Breast mice!

I thought I was imagining it but I felt one lump in my left breast then another in my right about a week later. I have been to GP this morning who referred me to breast clinic then asked me why I was looking worried? Did I really have to spell it out? She said 'oh nothing to worry about, they used to call them breast mice because they move about'. Can't help being a bit worried, especially as she said referral won't come through for another 3 weeks. Resisting the urge to google. Anyone else had creatures in their breasts??!!

Yes I did. I was referred to the local breast unit, where I had an ultrasound and they were pronounced benign. I had a very worrying six week wait though. Try not to worry, your GP will have lots of experience with these and apparently a tumour feels quite different.

Thank you, strangely I don't want to discuss it with anyone face to face in case I get 'oh poor you' stares, especially if there's nothing to worry about. The GP did say she'd seen lots over the years but she's quite waffy and I never know whether to believe her!

I had one of these - I think they are also called fibroadenomas and my gp was quite breezy about it too, he said that some women had these lumps 'knocking around in their breasts for years and were nothing to worry about '.Like you though I wasn't terribly reassured until I had been for further tests. As Rosa says, try not to worry if at all possible, I'm sure if your gp felt the lumps were sinister she would have got you in immediately.

Yes I had one (quite large) about 5 yrs ago. They did a needle aspiration and ultrasound to confirm. Although they are harmless they did offer to remove it and I had mine removed. Try not to worry, I think they do tend to feel rather distinctive; my gp said she though it was one as soon as she felt it.

Yes I did when I was 18 years old and thankfully it has never appeared again, after 4 kids feeding from me I like to think there isn't enough left for a breast mouse! I still check though every month as its made me a bit paranoid.
