4 months for a referral to a specialist?

I've been extremely bloated, feeling full despite not eating anything, having constant stomach aches, nausea and even worse stomach aches after food for more than a month now. Family history of ovarian cancer, but I'm 30 which is a bit on the "young" side for that.

Finally got a referral to a specialist and my appointment is in mid-december? Called and that's the earliest they can get me. Is this normal??

Sadly, yes. Or in my experience lately, anyway.

for a non 2 week suspected cancer referral,
that is very good. Locally here you’re looking at 12-18 months for a lot of specialties and longer for some.
obviously speak to whoever referred you if you’re concerned.

Your GP can do Ca125 and get a pelvic USS much quicker than that, if they haven't already done.
Referral for gynae here is a 9 month waiting list.

That's completely normal. They did used to say 18 weeks. But I've found that's rare - I should have been seen in May for something and still waiting.

If you can find the money, call a private provider for a scan.

So sorry you are going through this.

I’d go back to the GP and request a TWR referral. And the CA125 and USS mentioned above.

I got cancer at 31. My GP was similarly uninterested because age. I’d be more insistent in your position OP.
