Pelvic ultrasound interpretation

I had a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound this week for heavy periods as the GP thought on examination that I may have fibroids.

I haven't yet been able to speak to a GP about the results, but have seen the report online.

One of the findings was "Within the left ovary is a 21.41.3 cm heterogenous, mixed echogenic
lesion, this is indeterminant and may represent a fibroma."

My understanding if it is a fibroma is that these are usually benign, but because there's uncertainty around this they are recommending an MRI to characterise.

What I don't understand is that the measurement listed as 21.41.3 cm represents. I assume those can't be the three dimensions in cm as that would be huge, I'm relatively slim and I'm sure that would be noticeable by the GP on examination! Does anyone know what this means?

Hi @Utini I have an 8-10cm uterine fibroid and some smaller ones that make my uterus approx 15cm overall according to my letter. I’m also relatively slim and can clearly feel it myself with my hand on my tummy if I lie on my back. I’d have thought you’d be able to feel something that was 21cm, it can’t be hiding down in your pelvis if it’s that big??? Can you get a phone appt for someone to explain? Good luck xx
