Hello, my son is 5. This evening at tea time he said he could not eat because his throat is hurting so before bed I gave him calpol, he's not settled really all night he keeps on crying every few minutes, hes burning up I don't have a thermometer to check his temperature but he's definatley hot to touch, even with the fan on his back and tummy are warm. I thought his heart seemed to be racing so I did a pulse check and it was 122 BPM, does that sound worrying? I don't have a clue what his heart rate should be and Google gives various answers, any advice much appreciated thank you

My daughter also 5 had this recently about a week before the 6 weeks holiday. It was tonsillitis. It went on for weeks. 😢Between my 3 children they have all had it since and this week is the last week of the holidays, where everyone seems well 🤦🏽‍♀️
The doctor said high pulse and fever is normal and to cool them down gently and not too quickly otherwise their high temperature can increase. Hope he is feeling better soon x

Hope you all managed to get a little sleep and you son is a little better today

Thank you for all responses. We didn't get much sleep at all, he was so unsettled all night.

Currently sat in our walk in centre as my own GP had no appointments at all, been sitting here 2 hours. He has a high temp and low blood sugar just waiting to be seen by the nurse now.

How did you get on at the walk-in OP? Hope he's improved and tonight is a better night for you all

@Valhalla17 he has tonsillitis, they gave him penicillin for 10 days. He slept much better so we have managed to catch up on some much needed sleep. Thank you for checking back with me 😊
