Strange mark next to bite on 2 year old - what is it?

My 2 yo has woken up with a few bites on her leg, along with these strange marks. Can’t seem to find any picture online that look similar. Closest is Lyme’s diseases but not convinced as there’s no bite inside the mark.

Has anyone ever seen this before? We went to Centre Parcs a few weeks ago where she (very annoyingly) seemed to get bed bugs bits from the cot she stayed in there, so wondering if we’ve bought some home with us, but again, no sure it is that?

Not seen anything like that before but bumping for you.

Have you got a pharmacy you can pop to so you can get quick advice?

boatahoy · 30/08/2022 08:13

Sorry I can't help either but bumping for you.

I would definitely check for Lyme disease. Not sure if the rash is too irregular but I think you can completely miss the tick bites sometimes as the bullseye rash can appear later.

mattressspring · 30/08/2022 08:57

I would take them to the pharmacy to have it looked at

Thanks everyone. It has gone down substantially since she woke up, barely noticeable at all now and she seems fine in herself so will keep an eye on it and take her to the pharmacy this afternoon if it doesn’t completely disappear. Was just quite alarming to see this morning!

I’d go to the GP with that. It’s too close to Lyme to be messed with. Can you call them and ask if you can send the pictures over for their opinion?

WimpoleHat · 30/08/2022 09:48

Agree with asking the pharmacist/showing him/her that picture. You’ll either get some swift reassurance, or you’ll get told to see a doctor if it’s serious.

Lyme disease is really dangerous, worth getting a medical opinion

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 30/08/2022 09:59

First of all I would check her cot/bed. Ensure that she hasn't just leant on something in her sleep of that shape.
I am sure bed will be clear but definitely worth a check. If bed is clear I would go pharmacy or GP, even if it is going down substantially.

Nothing in her cot that could have done it - wish it was that! Will take her down to the pharmacy and get their opinion.

Thanks everyone.

Was worth a check though. Please do let us know what they say.
Hope its a minor thing that will go on its own.

Mark where red line is with a pen. This will show if the rash is tracking or moving too.

Indoctro · 30/08/2022 12:32

Lymes can ruin your life. I know a couple people this has happened too as live in a high area of ticks

I would definitely take her to see a gp

Calendulan · 30/08/2022 13:36

Oh was definitely worth checking!

The pharmacist said that it’s nothing to worry about, and that it was probably just urticaria/hives from the bite. They said if it was anything more sinister it wouldn’t have gone down so quickly, especially if it was Lymes, which is a huge relief. Just need to keep an eye on it and if it keeps happening then see the GP.

Thanks everyone for your help.
