Shoulder bursitis - physio exercises and cortisone injection advice.

Hi,
I developed shoulder pain at the start of this year. I saw the physio and GP who told me I had a rotator cuff injury - possibly a tear to the tendon. I was given exercises to do and the GP prescribed naproxen. I took one naproxen but felt 'drugged/woozy' for several hours so didn't carry on with that medication. I have since had an ultrasound which has shown inflammation of the bursa. I am continuing with the exercises and I am booked in for a cortisone injection - however it will be without the use of ultrasound to target the area. I just wanted to know
Has anyone has had this and it did the pain eventually go with regular physio?
When doing the physio do you have to push through any soreness or do you have to stop e.g. exercises raising arm horizontally or rotating elbow - both of those feel quite painful but I can push through.
If you had a cortisone injection - was ulltrasound also used?
Finally, if you had the cortisone injection - did it work?

I am in pain everyday and it is now at the stage where it is difficult to lie comfortably in bed at night.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Thank you!

Hi there. I’m in the same boat. It’s calcium deposits I have in my left shoulder, the pain is worse in the night. It actually feels like I’ve dislocated my shoulder. I’m booked in for a injection through ultra scan, therefore the radiologist know it’s going into the place where I’m getting the pain. I’ve had it before but only lasted a month or so. I’m opting in for keyhole surgery next time to get rid of the calcium deposits, apparently it’s like toothpaste what is causing the horrible pain. It’s wear and tear how this has happened. Hope you get it sorted soon 😊

I had this a couple of years ago. My GP offered me an injection but warned me that success rates were very low even if it found the target.
It eventually recovered through resting the arm /shoulder but has flared up a couple of times. Recently saw a physio who gave me exercises, little and often. Seems ok now.
I have had bursitis of the elbow which just goes away after two months. Generally triggered by overuse / repetitive movement.
I would ask the physio about how hard to push through.
