opk, def dont want another baby for about 3years minimum.

sisters were dx with a blood clotting disorder recently, as was my nan, mum is still waiting on results, but generally it passed down, and i havent sorted out my blood tests yet.

so ideally want soemthing which wont cause increase in clots.

non-hormonal coil, diaphragm, condoms are the only ones that spring to mind.

mde · 21/01/2008 19:50

is the non-hormone coil pretty effective?

the other two arent broodiness-safe lol.

morningpaper · 21/01/2008 19:51

OH IT'S ALL CRAP

My pct is no longer providing caps and only has one type of diaphragm but no one trained to fit it

Am awaiting results of formal complaints

Meanwhile it is NFP and condoms

belle74 · 21/01/2008 19:51

What about a coil?

There is always persona but having conceived my DS four months into a new relationship with using this I probably wouldn't recommend lol!

PersonalClown · 21/01/2008 19:51

I had the non hormonal coil put in in September. Has taken a while for them to settle down but they are pretty much back to normal. Just a bit of crampy pain at the beginning.

What's with the name change? Are you trying to confuse me?

mde · 21/01/2008 19:52

NFP?

Natural Family Planning

Have v. regular periods and did NFP a few years ago, so fairly confident with it

Have used it on and off for 7 years now - not had any mishaps but keep shagging period VERY TIGHT

non-hormonal coil will generally make your periods heavier and more painful, and won't prevent fertilisation, so if those are issues, you won't be too keen. They are v. popular in some countries though.

Rhubarb · 21/01/2008 19:58

We've been using condoms since ds was born and are ok with them.

mde · 21/01/2008 19:58

hmmm i dont think NFP is for me, we have a lot of catch up shagging to do.

Blandmum · 21/01/2008 19:59

Non hormonal coils are not bad. Not as effective as the progesterone ones, but not bad.

They can cause heavier periods. some people reject the use of them, because the can work by preventing implantation, and for some people this is not acceptable.

Slightly higher risk of ectopic pregnancy if they fail to work.

Not really suitable if you are not in a stable relationship, as they do slightly raise the risk of infection, but if you are in a stable partnership, that isn't an issue

mde · 21/01/2008 20:00

we have rhurbs, but they are such a faff, and its soo easy in a fit of broodiness to go what the heck.

really want something that i can forget about.

unles si get that blood test sorted ASAP and wait for those results. if i am not affected, then may go for the jabs or implant.

Rhubarb · 21/01/2008 20:06

But mde, surely your dh would also have to be broody?

One of you could ensure that the condom stays put.

morningpaper · 21/01/2008 20:06

yes sort those tests out

that's your best bet

really I have NEVER thought aw what the fuck and not put a condom on

that is like ordering another baby

crazy people!

pukkapatch · 21/01/2008 20:07

dont have sex?

mde · 21/01/2008 20:10

oh belive me its so tempting. and having had to take the MAP last year then i dont really want to go there again iyswim.

mp, if i could order a baby and not go through 9months of morning sickness, the ni would lol. but not right now.

will try and get GP appointment this week, but its like impossible at times. i'm not sure if its something the practise nurse can do.

OP posts:
mde · 21/01/2008 20:11

mde · 21/01/2008 20:13

i'm notosriosly crap at taking medication, so i think the pill is out straight away (i seem to spend time sorting out everyone elses meds and forget mine), and if your sick it doesnt work anyway does it?

how heavey are people talking about for non0-hormone coil? becuase i am going more for coil then other options.

I've had a nonhormone coil (we call it a copper IUD in US) for six years. It's not given me terrible periods or cramps, but was crampy for a little while after placing it. I quite forget it is there! In fact the only time I remember it is when someone asks about it like this.

mde · 21/01/2008 20:24

does the diapharm take away a bit of spontinuaity though? ie just having a quickie when all the kids out?
