Ovarian cancer fear.

Not sure why I’m making this post but I need to say it somewhere and hoping someone might be able to offer some support or advice.

My mum has had lots of worrying symptoms (pain, bloating, diarrhoea, feeling full quickly, loss of appetite) and they tested for bowel cancer which was clear.

She persisted and saw another GP who sent her straight for more blood tests including CA-125 which she had yesterday and she’s been contacted saying a doctor is going to call her tomorrow about the results.

I feel sick with worry. She’s already had cancer once many years ago and my step mum and mother-in-law also both currently have stage 4 cancer - it all feels too much.

I’m really close to my mum and I don’t know what I’d do if she had ovarian cancer as I know it’s often diagnosed late and everyone I know who has had it hasn’t lived for very long.

I'm so sorry, I don't have any advice. What an awful time for all your family. Just wanted to say I'll be thinking of you and hoping for some good news for your mum💐

Sorry you're going through this worry. My mum (in her 70s) had symptoms identical to what you describe. She was investigated and scanned for both bowel and ovarian cancer and was clear on both counts. In the end a specialist said it was probably IBS and recommended she tried giving up wheat for a few months. She did, and...no more problems.

I hope your mum gets good news and some answers!

Hi try not to worry until you have seen the doctor, a high CA125 test can indicate infection as well as cancer. i have been having lots of tests atm, and have been on a two week wait referral. The information they give you is that only 1 in ten people that are referred in this way turn out to have cancer. Hope you get good news soon.

Hello Op, I’m sorry you’re family is go through such a hard time right now and I hope everything works out well for your mum.

I’ve had ovarian cancer as have some of the women in the cancer board here and we all know how terrifying the prospect of it is.
