Does anyone use TENS for control/alleviation of chronic pain?

DP has bought me a unit due to my back problems (bulging/herniated disc) and trapped femoral/ilioingual/saphenous leg nerves.

Have to say it is helping a bit and making things bearable.
Is anyone else using ?

Use it for DDs chronic leg pain caused by ME. She says it takes the edge off it whereas normal pain killers dont touch it.

My Mum has one strapped to her at all times as it really helps her back problems.

She has osteperosis of the sachroilliac (sp?) part of her back and something else.
Can't remember exactly.

She had hydocortozone injections into her spine but they didn't help much but she loves her TENS.

My mum has one for her authrits (sp) and usues it regularly.

I suffered with really bad sholder pain from carrying the car seat with DS2 and carrying DS1 (15 month gap) so she bought me one and it was great. I needed really strong painkillersa nd would not take them during the day as they left me woozy and this took the edge off when it was bad till DH got home.

i'd say the same, it takes the edge of and means less painkillers which is good as I'm bf
Yes I had sacro iliac problems during pregnancy, this is the aftermath
Curiously stopping bf would help it but.... I'm bieng stubborn

Hey Piffle SNAP,
I have a slipped disk (since feb 07) I really understand how horrid it is. I have a tens machine and use it when I'm really stiff in the morning or whilst doing(trying to do) some house work. I wear it at work sometimes aswell because I'm on my feet for 10 hours a day it does help kind of gives me a different sensation to focus on.
How long have you had back trouble? What started it has anything helped and what have the doctors said?
Sorry about all the questions but I haven't found anyone with the same problem. It is seriously ruining my life everything hurts

Piffle · 21/01/2008 22:06

the back rarely hurts babalon only if I lie flat on my back on hard surface.
They said sacroiliac dysfunction, then bulging dics, then herniated L1 and 2 perhaps problems at L5 leading to triple nerve compression
The back pain is grim but the nerve pain has ruined my life.

oh and only just been to docs as my mistrust of them is epic for back problems

I had a bad fall in 1999 tearing some major ligaments, have suffered on and off since then but have done self no favours by being a lazy fecker
I see an osteo and about to start seeing a Bowen tecnhique specialist as have heard many good things about them.
Osteo is good for when it gets really bad but only staves off for a while, not curing
