Sharp pain right hand side. Normal post hyserectomy pain?

I had an abdominal hysterectomy exactly 3 months ago. Returned to work after 2 months in late July. It's a busy job with lots of movement and some lifting. I'm on light duties so am doing less driving and am lifting only max 6 or 7 kg at a time several times a day.

I started getting sharp pain in my lower right abdomen about 3 weeks ago and painful pulling feeling around belly button. It won't go away and some days feels like it is getting worse. I saw my GP a week ago - they sent me for a blood test to check for infection and as I have not heard back I assume it was all clear (that'a standard procedure at the surgery i.e. they call if there is any concern).

But the pain is still there, very strong, very distracting and tiring. Anyone with experience/knowledge of hysterectomy - is this part of my recovery? Is it that I've overdone things too soon in work? Or something else? Thanks.

It doesn't sound normal at the 3 month stage in my experience (I had a TAH 5 years ago) and it does sound as though you might have overdone it at work. I would go back to the doctor and see what they say - can you speak to your consultant at all? - and you need to stop the lifting and driving until you are fully healed.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

I had laparoscopic hysterectomy 2 months ago.

I've had what I think you're describing.

Especially painful when I tried to lay on my front. Enough to take my breath away iyswim?

Like a feeling that something is pulling when you do the movements? Mines not there all the time.

Mines started to ease the past week.

No idea if it's normal (I assumed it was!) but it's definitely improving.

Thanks for reply 😊
Meant to say I am due to see the consultant on the 31st. I keep telling myself I can wait to talk to her about it but it's so painful (and I am quite good at tolerating pain usually).

Ah, that's interesting. Thank you.

See if your GP can prescribe some pain relief for you to tide you over till your consultant appointment. If you can rest , it will help.

You are speaking lots of sense. Thank you. I think in my tiredness and pain I am losing my ability yo make a sensible plan.

I can rest in Sept when this busy period in work is over. Can't wait!
