How far would you travel to the gym?

Hi I’ve wanted to get toned up and lose a few pounds but can’t stick at going to a gym long enough, probably because I feel self conscious that I’m not doing it right.
Anyway, I’ve found a lovely personal trainer who has a specially made gym at the end of her garden. Like a treble garage or something. We do circuit training with a few weights to start with.
The question is, it’s 35 minutes from where I live. I go 3 times a week for an hour each time. Is it a reasonable distance and would you? Thanks

I wouldn't, but that's more because I don't have the time to take over 2 hours out of my day - plus the fuel bill would cripple me! But if money was no object and I really liked the place then sure why not

I think that's fine for PT. If you want somewhere you can just pop in you might want somewhere closer but if you are doing 1-1 sessions you will have the commitment to go because it is booked in with her.

There’s no right or wrong answer here. I travel a similar time to my ice skating lesson once a week, but I love it and there’s no closer option. I wouldn’t fancy it three times a week though.

Hi I pay £70 for three 3 hour sessions a week. I really enjoy it and can just afford to do it ( even though I’m quite thrifty with money) this is my special treat. I just wasn’t sure if I was being silly driving so much for a one hour session.

Personally I wouldn’t as I don’t have that amount of free time. But I have a peloton so I just walk downstairs to use it.

I ended up cancelling my gym membership because I couldn't motivate myself to drive for half an hour to get there. If you're motivated and enjoying it though go for it!

Five minutes. I take DS to a class and join in myself.

But mostly I run & cycle to save on gym fees.

I live in the countryside and travel 15 minutes one direction to my local leisure centre for their classes 2 to 3 times a week and 40 minutes the other direction to a PT twice a week.

I have about a 15 minute drive/22-25 minute cycle to my gym. I try and do the latter if I can because the net time is the same as I don't have to warm up when I get there.

I used to feel guilty about not going to a cheaper gym but the best exercise is exercise you actually do. So if that is what makes you do the exercise then you should go for it.
