I know it is important to make sure you wash/dry thoroughly all the nooks and crannies, and I pay special attention to around dd's neck/chin. I have just picked her up to put her to bed and noticed that she has a 2inch long red raw sore in the crease of her neck under her chin. It is shiney and looks wet. I have cleaned it with water and patted dry, but how do I treat it? It must look worse than it feels as dd is more than happy for me to touch it.

put sudocrem on it and see how it is in the morning

Agree with Tommy. Sudocrem usually works miracles on things like that.

Agreed - this happened to my dd - just needs air, gentle clean and a bit of sudocream

it's so easy to do when they've got no neck isn't it? I found DS's neck was like this and when sudocrem didn't do the trick my SIL (who is a GP) diagnosed a mild yeast infection and told me to put ordinary canestan on it. It went within a day or two.

She was such a skinny wee thing when she was born so didn't have chubby cheeks and folds. Now she has filled out the checking the creases business is all new to me! Dh said her neck needs some air on it but it's so hard to persuade a 4 month old baby to lift her chin up!

tummy time does help - they have to extend the chin slightly or suffocate!
