Joint pain in your 30s?

Choopi · 14/08/2022 23:12

I'm mid 30s, healthy weight, exercise and have a healthy balanced diet. Prior to this apart from a sudden bout of sepsis last year I have never had any health issues at all.

Over the past 6 weeks-ish I've started to get quite bad joint pain. It started in my wrists, the pain going up my arm and probably the worst was in my palm on the padded bit just below my thumb. Then my feet started to hurt, the bottoms of my feet were the worst but it did radiate up as far as my ankles. The wrist and foot pain started to fade about 2 weeks ago, although still there it is nothing like it was but to replace it my right hip got really sore, I could barely bring the dogs for a 10min walk and sudden movements and things like bending down, getting up were a killer. This weekend that is starting to fade but my hips(both even though just my right was sore) are so stiff now and I feel like I have reduced movement. As well as that I have been knackered and some days feel like I have really bad brain fog but I have been struggling to sleep because of the pain so maybe I'm just tired? Has anyone had something like this come out of the blue or have any idea what it could be?

I do have a GP app for Tuesday but I'm starting to get pretty anxious about it all at this stage.

Could be hormonal? Are your periods regular?

RandomMess · 14/08/2022 23:35

For DH it was psoriatic arthritis.

Choopi · 14/08/2022 23:42

I am on the minipill, I haven't had a period in a good six months I would say but I think that's normal when on the pill?

@RandomMess I have to say arthritis is something I am working myself up over. I don't know if it just comes on suddenly like this though? But I suppose it has to start sometime?

vitamin d deficiency can cause this

mossberry · 14/08/2022 23:51

Get your vitamin d levels checked

Choopi · 14/08/2022 23:59

Thanks. I'll definitely ask about vit d at the gp on Tuesday.

Have you been bitten by a tick while out dog walking?

Have you been bitten by a tick while out dog walking?

Not that I have noticed! I've only ever once found a tick on the dogs so I'm not sure it is much of an issue around here.

I have no medical knowledge whatsoever so I might be talking utter rubbish, but there’s just a chance it could be rheumatoid/psoriatic arthritis. If the doc suspects this he/she will send you to see a specialist. They will do blood tests and then give you medication that will help. Nowadays there is so much they can do to help people who have this condition. I have a close relative with it but they lead a very normal and active life now their meds have been sorted out. I hope I havent increased your worries; I’m actually trying to reassure you as you said you were concerned in case it was arthritis Hope you’re OK.

Choopi · 16/08/2022 17:17

Just to update this. I went to the GP today and he took bloods to test for arthritis, test my thyroid and for vitamin deficiencys so we shall see if anything pops up.

Good luck @Choopi. Let us know how you get on. I had similar and it was vitamin D

Coursha · 17/08/2022 23:06

Have you done a covid test? My joints were aching all over when I had it and also very fatigued

Coursha · 17/08/2022 23:07

Sorry, just seen you’ve had it for 6 weeks so covid test would be negative now and symptoms probably better

Galaxyinmypocket · 17/08/2022 23:32

Do a week's trial of eliminating dairy and see if you notice any improvements.
I have had all kinds of tests done for arthritis, bloods etc and although I am coeliac I was still experiencing joint pain (after going completely gluten free) until I gave up dairy.

goldenbag · 18/08/2022 15:23

How are you getting on @Choopi?

CrazyRatLover · 18/08/2022 16:50

I have inflammatory arthritis which doesn't show in the blood. If it persists you could get your GP to refer you to rheumatology.
