Vaginal douche (water slide) - paranoid about infection now?

Apologies in advance if I sound nuts but I’m so worried now. Hoping someone can reassure me that I’m getting carried away.

As the title says, I went down a fast water slide, and afterwards a load of water came out 😮I have a bit of a prolapse I think which doesn’t help (often get air trapped up there). Worried now that I’m going to get an infection from the pool water in my vagina or womb (could the water have been forced up there?). Visions of being carted off to hospital on holiday. Anyone know if this is a possibility? Or totally normal? No pain or anything.

Should be fine as long as you rinse very well (plain water, no soap etc) immediately after the park.

I got thrush from a waterpack cos they had those nasty communal showers where women don’t get to wash their bits but men can just let water flow down under their trunks 🙄 now I take a bottle of water to the loo and wash there, suggest you do same, don’t wait for after the drive home.

Ps it won’t have entered the womb there’s mucus at your cervix to prevent that.

ItsSnowJokes · 13/08/2022 15:34

Highly unlikely you will get an infection. Stop worrying and enjoy the holiday!

Oblomov22 · 13/08/2022 15:48

No. Just no. Can't believe you are even worried about this.

@For It’s not unheard of for fluid/air to get into the abdomen/pelvis via the vagina - depends on how much pressure it’s under. The typical case that’s taught at medical school is the female waterskiier with gas in the abdomen, but a quick Google also reveals at least one case study of free fluid in the abdomen after using a jacuzzi! 😨

I ended up with a very nasty UTI (spread to my kidneys) after exactly that scenario I'm afraid, OP. Obviously I can't be 100% certain it was from the waterpark, but the timing fitted and there wasn't anything else that would have caused it. I'm not prone to them in general.

There is a slide in a waterpark in Germany that is actually men only IIRC, because of the risk of water being forced into the vagina.

Fingers crossed you'll be OK.

Scary. When can I relax? Would I know tomorrow or would an infection take longer to show?

wish I’d never been on the bloody thing now

@Greybeardy what happened? I presume it’s rare, otherwise the med hospitals would be full of women on iv AB’s. (she says hopefully)

@pastaandpesto did you need iv antibiotics?

Every time I go swimming water comes out afterwards, it's never crossed my mind that this should be something to be concerned about!
You will be absolutely fine OP.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 13/08/2022 18:27

Just relax now, if it happens it happens!

Manekinek0 · 13/08/2022 18:42

Same thing happened to me! I ended up with thrush.

@pastaandpesto did you need iv antibiotics?

No, although I did need three courses of antibiotics (the first one was a single dose treatment which I took while we were still away, which kept it at bay for a few days before it came back. The second two courses were longer and two different antibiotics because I actually had two different strains of infection). It cleared up in the end though.

I remember going on a “drop” waterslide in Orlando once, and the instructions were that you had to stand with your ankles crossed before the drop opened, apparently to prevent exactly this from happening (probably also prevented people getting their legs stuck in the chute too, but that wasn’t the reason they gave).
