I am trying to loose about 10lbs but I love my food too much . I work out at the gym 3 times a week but I need to cut down on food and drink too - its so bloody hard though.

A stone would be great. A stone and a half would be fab.

I'm lacking motivation, but am trying again tomorrow....diets always start tomorrow.

For me

No booze during week

Cut down carbs

Up exercise.

Baby steps for me.

Eve34 · 20/01/2008 17:28

Trying, or would like to get rid of my some kind of magic that deosn't mean eating less or exercising???

Would like to lose a stone to a stone and half, but have not got into gear yet, have to soon my bum is taking over the world

constancereader · 20/01/2008 17:46

I'd like to lose a stone too - I have already lost a lot of my baby weight but can't seem to shift the last stone.

Have you read Naomi Wolf's The Beauty Myth? She writes about the fact that many women rate losing that last stone OVER career success etc. I read it, was convinced, and failed to change my thinking in order to be happy with my body the way it is

JingleyJen · 20/01/2008 17:49

Sadly I have 2 stone to loose having put a bit more on over christmas - all my own fault - very clear case of eating more than I am burning off.

Monkeytrousers · 20/01/2008 17:51

2 stones

BecauseImWorthIt · 20/01/2008 17:52

One stone. Have started back on low carbing, but need to be more disciplined. Next week I'm cutting down on both alcohol and caffeine.

foofi · 20/01/2008 17:55

None - but am sitting looking at an overweight 8 year old and wondering how to deal with it without her realising!

JingleyJen · 20/01/2008 17:59

foofi - is she very overweight? can you all go a getting healthy lifestyle campaign without it being weight related therefore the whole family could buy into it - the byproduct could be her getting to a reasonable weight?

The reason I am eager to respond to your post is my good friend and I had a similar conversation when her daughter was 7 she decided she didn't want to upset her daughter and so has never tackled it she is now 16 years old and a dress size 24.

Definatly worth giving it a go

PellMell · 20/01/2008 17:59

4 [blush
Have almost managed 1 since new years day so I am not as hopeless as I thought.
My dog is loving me right now. Lots of walks!!!!

Furball · 20/01/2008 18:05

2 stones - have been on the 'lardy ladies' threads for years.

constancereader · 20/01/2008 18:06

PellMell that is really good going

needmorecoffee · 20/01/2008 18:18

stone and a half. Joined Slimming World 2 years ago. Lost 4 pounds so far. It just went on when I was in a wheelchair last year. Went from cycling and walking everywhere to being blob but kept eating as if I was energetic
Don' want to be fat and 40

needmorecoffee · 20/01/2008 18:19

Foofi. Whats her diet like? Does she walk to school, run about in the evening etc?

Shaniece · 20/01/2008 18:59

Thanks for your replies. My diet starts tomorrow. The thing is, come Friday and Saturday and I will drink wine and cook lovely food in cream sauces .

OP posts:
needmorecoffee · 20/01/2008 19:02

use fromage frais or fat free yogurt to make the sauces.

belcantavinissima · 20/01/2008 19:10

three and a half

Shaniece · 20/01/2008 19:22

Good idea about the fromage frais and yogurt. hmm, I will try next time.

Sorry Jingleyjen and Needmorecoffee - was away from the computer for a while. Yes, I think exercise is the key - her school is too far away for her to walk and she's not particularly sporty or keen on dance so it's tough to know how to make her more active.

Minum · 20/01/2008 20:50

I need to loose 2.5 stone to get into normal BMI - I had no idea I was obese, but bought some weightwatchers scales on Friday (havent owned scales for years) and have had to face facts this weekend

Minum · 20/01/2008 20:52

niceglasses - just noticed your approach - its mine exactly. I've cut out carbs since Christmas, and really happy with my new diet, I'm running 4 times a week (well, just started so its a mixture of walking and running) and loving it, but the no booze mid week is really hard, and not going well.

needmorecoffee · 21/01/2008 08:59

How far is too far Foofi. When I was a teen I walked 3 miles to school. At 8 it was too miles. So we were all skinny. 2-3 miles is a reasonable distance and would get the weight off in no time.
Getting off at 8 is going to be far easiet than as a teeneger when all the bad patterns have set in plus low self esteem from name calling.
Cars make people put on weight, as well as the wrong sorts of food.
