This is a long story so bare with me.

A few weeks ago dd started getting pain in her teeth on & off so went to the dentist. Turns out the tooth next to her front tooth is completely dead. Root is totally gone & the only thing holding it in is the permanent retainer that she has after her braces, as it’s glued to it. She has arranged to go this Saturday to start the process of getting an implant.
Today they phoned her to say this may not be possible as there may not be room enough for an implant so they’re basically going to take an impression to make a false tooth that she’ll have instead.

She’s devastated at the thought of a false tooth. Can anyone tell me any positive stories about this. Or even any alternatives she might explore?

id really appreciate any advice.

thanks.

And mine still isn’t what you’ve describes as a resin retained or cantilevered bridge, nor as you trying to mush the two descriptors together. Personally I prefer to take the descriptor of several dentists over the past decades than some random internet person who hasn’t seen (nor ever will) my dental work.

A family member had one with a plate and later, with a bridge. You can't tell.

I’m not arguing with you. I’m trying to help the OP with the correct terminology. But I did Google ‘floating bridge’ and all the Google links described a cantilever ie where the replacement ‘fake’ tooth is only attached to one natural tooth

Is the dentist an implant specialist?

Make sure they are before you do anything!

I've got two permanent bridges but had one false tooth on a palette while the last was made. I hated it as I couldn't eat properly and slurred words which made work impossible. I stopped wearing it until the bridge was fitted. I love the bridges and they look very natural but can't now bite an apple (small price to pay). One of my bridges is 30 years old, it fell out once but was just reapplied. It was originally attached to teeth either side but one side became detached so the dentist removed one wing and it has held secure. The other was always just attached to one tooth beside it.
