Appropriate exercise for sufferers of hip injuries?

Last year I lost 3 stone (yay!) through sensible eating and not very sensible, bordering on obsessional running... as a result now have a hip injury and find it painful to walk let alone run. Am currently attending physio to help it.

Anyway, have piled back on 2 of the 3 stones (boo!) due to not exercising and feeling sorry for myself. Enough is enough though and I am determined to get this weight back off and permanently this time. Have done it before and will do it again. But I really need to find some aerobic exercise that will be gentle on my hip. Swimming is the obvious answer I know, but I hate it and know I wouldn't stick with it.

Would be very grateful for any suggestions.

my friend who has had a couple of hip replacments and cant run, swears by riding a bike. she lost over 4 stone by cycling and slimming world diet.

Thanks misdee (you ok?)

Cycling is a good idea. Bought a bike last year and used it once My backside took about 3 months to stop aching

Definitely a possibility though. Convenient and cheap!

Depends on what your hip injury is. Best asking the physio's advice if you're going back there. Hope you find something to suit

Must be really hard work pulling a trailer with a child in it Takes all my energy just to get ME up a hill!

Fortunately all of mine can ride their own bikes now. This may be the kick I need to get us all out and exercising.

northender, physio is not sure tbh

she though it was bursitis originally now is saying it may be muscle damage (although I first hurt it last June). so am doing weight bearing exercises to strengthen the muscle. next appt is in 2 weeks so will ask her then
