What is going on? Post covid or something concerning?

I haven’t felt right for 6 weeks now. Tested positive for Covid a week after I started experiencing these symptoms but am concerned that actually something else is going on that isn’t covid related.

I feel constantly light headed, a feeling of pressure in the front of my head, slightly dizzy (not vertigo) and disconnected from reality. I’m performing fine at work and at home but it’s uncomfortable and distressing. No pain. My vision sometimes feels fuzzy and hazy but this is changeable and sometimes it’s normal. My visual focus at these times isn’t as good as normal, maybe slightly blurry but not double vision. No lost patches of vision.

I’ve seen an optician who did the usual eye checks plus some fancy new scan (OCT scan) which looks at all the layers of your eye and everything seems healthy.

Blood pressure seems okay, heart rate a bit high maybe when standing but symptoms are there whether I’m sitting down or moving around.

Could this be post-covid? Internet says I have a brain tumour obviously. I am admittedly feeling quite panicky about it which doesn’t help.

As an aside I’m late 30s, overweight and have hypermobility syndrome. Seeing GP next week.

Any idea what might be going on?

Sinus stuff? Sounds like how I felt with a sinus infection.

Long Covid for me has been relentless fatigue, brain fog, stomach issues and random aches and pains.

Foreverbaffled · 10/08/2022 14:55

My sinus’ seem okay. I had a lot of headaches and sinus pain during covid but that passed after a few days. Maybe there is some inflammation left in there!

Sorry you’re suffering though, that sounds awful.

My long Covid mostly presents as feeling light headed, especially if I do too much physically. No vision issues though.
Worth mentioning to the doctor, they can do blood tests to rule anything else out.

I don’t know but I got covid last month and haven’t felt right since. I am feeling a bit better now (4 weeks on) though.
I’ve spoken to GP, had tests (blood and stool) and am seeing a gastro (privately) soon.
You're doing the right thing making an appt.

These are my symptoms too. Although waning a bit now. Found inflammation in stool sample so off to see gastro.

Hi, did you recover? Or ever find out what this was? I’m experiencing something so similiar!

NeonHalo · 17/01/2023 19:16

@Elisemp93 sorry you’re struggling. I am much better now, it’s taken months but seriously basically back to normal now. I was diagnosed with something called PPPD in the end (I saw a private ENT Consultant) and having an explanation really helped. Has yours started since covid?

NeonHalo · 17/01/2023 19:16

@Elisemp93 Oops sorry name change fail! Haha. I am the OP though.

Elisemp93 · 17/01/2023 19:59

Ah thank you so much for coming back to me!! It’s so frustrating when you don’t know what the problem is isn’t it? I’m sure you were like me, in that I’ve cut so many things out to try and pinpoint the issue, with little success! I haven’t drank alcohol or eaten chocolate in over a month! I will have a look at PPPD, and see if it will help me. Thank you!

Elisemp93 · 17/01/2023 20:25

Sorry, totally missed your question! Mine started after a virus but I never tested for covid at the time so not sure! Did you have to do anything to help the PPPD disappear? Or has it done so naturally? This is week 8 for me. 😫. Did you ever find it got better over a few days and then suddenly worse again?

Starrr123 · 17/01/2023 20:45

when i first had covid in 2020 i had vision issues, aches , weird bosy sensations etc!
Dizzyness has never gone or the fatigue:( hoping one day ill wake up and its gone xx

NeonHalo · 17/01/2023 21:27

@Elisemp93 PPPD usually happens after a virus and is exacerbated by anxiety so once I knew what it was I worried less and in turn the symptoms have become more manageable. I had become avoidant of busy environments/going out etc as found they made my symptoms worse but was told to force myself to do these things to re-train my brain to cope. It’s worked so far… but yes I tried all manner of things (stopped drinking, took certain vitamins etc none of which helped). What was frustrating was that like you I had some good patches and then out of nowhere a terrible few days. So confusing!

NeonHalo · 17/01/2023 21:28

@Starrr123 fingers crossed for you. Might be worth researching PPPD too x

Starrr123 · 17/01/2023 21:32

@NeonHalo thankyou! I will Now, does thag ever go away?
how are you now ? Able to go to social
events? Xx

NeonHalo · 17/01/2023 21:56

@Starrr123 yes so much better thanks, doing everything I used to. Have bad patches or fleeting woozy spells but I try to ignore and carry on. I know how easy it is for me to say though. PPPD can definitely go away but can be a journey.

Starrr123 · 17/01/2023 22:00

@NeonHalo oo thats very good to hear!! :) very positive!
yes im better then i used to be , but like you said. Get woozy days and good days. It seems to be worse when im stressed on due on my
period ! Xx

NeonHalo · 17/01/2023 22:04

@Starrr123 mine is so much worse when I’m stressed but it calms down when I am able to relax. Busy environments like the supermarket are still a little bit triggering but I have to ignore it as much as possible. Good luck!

Starrr123 · 17/01/2023 22:22

@NeonHalo supermarkets is the same for me! Whys that? Also driving in like a motor way? X

NeonHalo · 18/01/2023 06:50

@Starrr123 that’s classic PPPD! This link explains it much better than I can:

Starrr123 · 18/01/2023 09:07
