Narrow eye canal panic

Hi,
I've historically had poor eye health with several really poorly bouts. Have been ok for a few years, eye sight changed a fair bit over the last year (gone into varifocals but probably my age). Went for a regular check up prescription hasn't changed but I have narrow eye canals and I have been referred. My eye pressure was also up (this is fairly normal for me). I am in a complete panic about this. Dr Google has not helped. Have convinced myself it's the beginning of the end etc and now I have to wait for referral to come though.
Anyone with any experience of this?

If it is very narrow, they'll just use a laser to make a little drainage hole to allow the excess fluid in the front of the eye to drain, which will reduce the eye pressure and stop glaucoma (and any subsequent visual loss) developing. The make the little hole under the eyelid usually so that no-one sees it and unless you have very "open eyes" visual problems - such as glare - are rare.
It's called a peripheral iridectomy and the Moorfields information sheet is here:

My mum actually had one a few years ago when I picked up that her angles started to narrow and has been fine since.

Thank you. Do you know if it is painful? How long can't you drive for? Not sure what will happen with work.

No, not painful. They use an anaesthetic drop.

You definitely can't drive on the day, I'd say not the day after either (to be on the safe side), but then you should be okay. Have a read through that info sheet I posted.
