How to get a sleep study done?

My 22 year old DS has struggled with sleep since the age of about 12. He struggles to get to sleep and now struggles to stay asleep. He says he isn't depressed. He has been diagnosed with Dyslexia, so not sure if this makes him neurodiverse, which is associated with sleep issues. I suspect he may have ADD, but he does not wish to pursue diagnosis on this.
He has just managed the best he can for years, but it is now getting him down.
He has tried various strategies. Chlorophenamine anti histamines, herbal sleeping tablets, cutting down screen use before bed, audio books, podcasts, going to bed the same time every night. He has also got Melatonin via the internet (I know that this is not a great idea).

Nothing is really working. He has been to the GP today who just suggested an app. He is going to try it, but I am not holding out too much hope.
Does anyone know how to get a sleep study done? We are happy to pay for it, but not sure where to go for one. I feel that a sleep study might throw some light on what is going on.
Thanks in advance.

The sleep cycle app is pretty good because he can log the things that have happened during the day and see how they affect his sleep. Does he have (and keep to) a good bedtime routine? I ask because you say he’s struggled since 12 so I wonder whether he’s managed to learn to manage it himself as he’s grown up:
My DS20 is ND and has struggled since the same age.

He can self refer to a private sleep study centre which monitors his sleep pattern, eye movement, oxygen levels but I think they are more helpful in cases of sleep apnoea.

Thanks both. I will get him to try the Sleep Cycle App, as maybe there are things causing him to not sleep that he hasn't realised are linked. He is not very good with bedtime routine at all. Probably a big part of the problem. I think that he doesn't get around to going to bed at a reasonable time as he knows he will just be lying there awake.
I wlll google private sleep study centres.

I would also look at insomnia clinics, something like SleepStaion or cbt
