Prolapse and sex

Got a go appointment tomorrow think I have prolapse really want an op. My vagina is slack fills with air in doggy position :( cervix is low about 2 inches from opening is this normal :( I’m only 26 with a 1 year old. Had a vaginal birth but no complications. Would like more children in future but feel like the anxiety from my body will stop me. Heard so many horror stories about operations would be nice to hear some positive ones? Feel like my cervix has dropped and I have a rectocele. I can’t grip my partner during sex anymore and have been doing regular kegals for a year. Very overwhelmed and depressed. Dreading tomorrow

They won’t do an op until after you’ve finished your family,
I was in a similar position as you and it did get better with time
kegel8 vaginal muscle stimulator is amazing

sausagepastapot · 03/03/2023 18:03

Have you got the nhs squeezy app?

Bella1994 · 03/03/2023 18:47

How often do you use your kegel 8? I have one but worry about over using it I only very occasionally do and sometimes feels worse after which is odd? Do you have any kids ? What prolapse do you have ? I don’t think exercises can lift your womb? I’m soooo down in the dumps and uncomfortable. They’ve reffered me for a mri scan now but the waiting list is long xxx can I also ask your age

@Bella1994 , the answers to all your questions are in the original post.

I realise this an old post but quite a few people have posted on here today. I would recommend an appointment with a women’s health physio, if you can find a “Mummy MOT” practitioner near you, even better. Best £100 I ever spent.

Bella1994 · 03/03/2023 22:12

What do you mean? Where can I find that please

Bluelightbaby · 03/03/2023 22:21

I had a pelvic organ prolapse when I was 36. I had an operation which included mesh being placed inside to hold everything up (I gather mesh isn’t used now) I work in a job with heavy lifting and a hobby that includes lifting - never had an issue. I have regular sex with my partner - again no issues. Hopefully you’ll be referred to a urogynea - although it’s not a quick process being referred for surgery. My bladder was hanging outside of my vagina (I’d have to manually empty it) abc even then it took 6months for the op !

also we’re TTC and was told it wouldn’t effect having more kids - may just need a c section due to scarring

mrsfennel · 03/03/2023 22:25

@Bluelightbaby Sounds like the operation really improved things for you. I hope its ok to ask what caused your prolapse and what symptoms you were having?

How were managing with your bladder? That sounds incredibly difficult .

tealandteal · 04/03/2023 09:28

@Bella1994 you can just google Mummy MOT and then search on their website for someone near you. I had 2 types of prolapse at my 8 week exam with the GP. I can’t remember the longer terms but womb and bowel. They were both “mild” but obviously combined still quite uncomfortable and unpleasant.

I now only feel it very occasionally, but it’s such a massive improvement. My GP said she couldn’t refer me until I’d been having problems for a year. My baby is 8 months old now and although I expect some more improvement, I’d be happy with this forever.

I am under physio and I payed to see a urogyno who has told me it’s grade 1 even thou I feel it is a lot worse. Mentally and physically I hate it. I am waiting for a mri scan which should show where things are. I want a op really bad but she said I’m young so reluctant to do it incase I want another kid x

Honestly not sure what caused it, but I had a uterus prolapse and rectocele & cystocyle (SP?)

I’ve not had any issues since (touching wood !!!)

the bladder thing was a nightmare !!
