Really odd sensation in leg… what do I ask Dr Google?

I have the weirdest sensation in my leg. It started as intermittent tingling sensation just above my ankle. It felt a bit like a scratch, or as if I’d dropped glue or sauce on it that had hardened. It was in a straight line, about an inch long.

Over the course of a week or so, it’s developed into an almost constant tingling / pulsing sensation, still just above my ankle and now spreading over a wider area. It’s not painful as such, just odd.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Or even what I could google to find out more?

Thank you 🙏

Feet tingling always makes me suspect diabetes?

Albgo · 08/08/2022 19:58

I'd get a GP apt. Could be loads of things, some serious, others not so much.

Above your ankle…possibly sciatica would be my guess

Blackopal · 08/08/2022 19:59

Hmmm, I had a very strange sensation in leg a couple of weeks before I found out I was extremely anemic.
Wasn't quite like yours, had a strange sensation of warmth from inside leg.
I think if it's strong enough to be noticed and play on your mind it might be good to look into it.

Thank you. Diabetes is all that’s really coming up when I google, but it’s higher up though, kind of above my ankle?

(and yes, I’ll call my GP, just interested in ideas at the moment!)

Don't Dr Google. You'll convince yourself you've got diabetes something terrible wrong with you. Speak to a real GP.

X posted. I’ve been anaemic in the past so I’ll definitely check that out.

Off to google sciatica…

thank you

I’ll call The GP tomorrow. I promise. But surely everyone Googles first?

No I don't Dr Google myself - I know too many MIL, FIL's wife who and wind themselves up into a right state that they've 'got' XYZ. Then when the doc diagnoses what's really wrong they think he's covering up! Drives me barmy.

Will my leg fall off 😃

Could be anything. Sciatica is normally starts from your side and down your hip.

I just tried googling that @vodkaredbullgirl, hoping for a ‘funny’ screenshot and it also told me about diabetes, sciatica and MS. Not so funny. The sensation is definitely much stronger today than it has been so I’ll call the GP in the morning. It’s such an odd feeling. I wish I could describe it properly.

Have you been gardening and brushed up against something a bit poisonous? Some plants can leave you with numb patches for a few days. (Use leather gauntlets when cutting back the monkshood..)

Beachsidesunset · 08/08/2022 22:36

B-12 or folate deficiency can cause numbness and tingling in legs.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 08/08/2022 22:59

Tarsal tunnel syndrome?

OutDamnedSpot · 09/08/2022 13:19

Hmmm. The actual doctor clearly just thought I was a crazy lady. I don’t have a diagnosis or any idea what is going on with my leg, but I do have reassurance that it’s not an aneurysm and I’m not about to keel over.
