Poor posture - any tips?

I have just noticed my posture is quite poor.
my shoulders are beginning to get round, and my body aches if I try and sit up straight!

My back is very curved when I sit down.

When I walk my neck is forwards!! (especially with a satchel on my shoulder)

Has anyone got any tips on what to do? I’m hypermobile, I already run quite a lot and I swim 3 x a week.

I am not very good at forming new habits so whenever I start yoga, I do it for a few weeks and then give up / forget.

I usually wear converse or Vans but I’m wondering if some small heels would help when the Birkenstock weather ends.

I'd do some strength training to build the muscles in your back / core.

You could buy a posture corrector.

Alexander technique? Used to be a thing in the 70s and 80s although not heard much about it more recently. Perhaps Pilates has taken over?

Adult ballet lessons?

Pilates and strength training would really help.
check online or IG for postural stretches and exercises. I bought a Pilates block and stretch my back over it which really helps. I think you’ll need to do all of the above to correct poor posture. It can take a while to correct.

Thanks everyone!! I need some kind of daily posture exercise routine. I used to do strength training but stopped going to the gym when covid kicked off!

I think I’ll start doing a bit at home in front of YouTube and then work up to bigger weights and maybe a Pilates class!!

Most definitely pilates is your friend here!

Following! I am very conscious of this too. I've tried yoga and Pilates at various times but I'm not sure how much difference it has made. I think fundamentally I just need to sit/stand better and make a conscious effort to do so until it becomes second nature.

Following this. I am also hypermobile and have terrible posture. It hurts so much to sit/stand straight with the correct posture but looks so awful when I don’t. I spent all day yesterday being sick due to pain in my head referred from my neck caused predominately by posture.
