Piles - please help!

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 07/08/2022 22:08

Ive had piles before, but nothing like this. Usually they are small and almost painless, I use anusol for a few days and that sorts them.

Then these two!! They came on so suddenly. I suddenly noticed I was in pain a couple of weeks ago, checked and I have two external piles. One is grape sized and the other is a bit smaller, they are so painful. I used anusol cream and suppositories for about a week and when that didn’t help phoned the doctor. I have now been using Scheriproct for 4 days, ointment and suppositories and it’s not helping at all.

They are so painful! It hurts to sit, walk, go to the loo, do anything really. Painkillers help. I have tried hot baths and ice packs. Both give me some relief, but I can’t live in the bath or with an ice pack between my butt cheeks!!

I drink a lot of water and am making sure to eat lots of fruit and veg. I’m even taking a laxative just for good measure. We go on holiday in a few days. Flying is going to be awful!

I have been putting my feet on a stool when I go to the loo as well as a friend suggested that. Any other tips?? I didn’t realise how painful they could be, oh and itchy! Life is quite uncomfortable right now.

After giving birth the physio showed me how to use an upended dining chair to lift my rear end. This allows the haemorrhoid to drain.you lie on your back and put your legs on the chair to raise your pelvis and stay like that. I think it was ten minutes but can't remember exactly. Google might help with more details. I put a pillow against the chair this make it more comfortable. Good luck

Mammajay · 07/08/2022 22:21

You can also do it on your bed headboard if it is sturdy enough.

MouseRoar · 07/08/2022 22:23

sorry if tmi but I found pushing them inside brought some relief

Deguster · 07/08/2022 22:28

The Scheriproct can take a while to kick in. I’ve had mine fixed surgically (not in UK) so that might also be an option? I imagine waits are long though.

if they get irritated when you poo/wipe some Vaseline or barrier cream can help.

bellamountain · 07/08/2022 22:30

If they are causing you so much pain, you should really see a doctor and be referred. If it's impacting your daily life so much, that's not right.

JessicaPeach · 07/08/2022 22:45

I was coming to suggest scheriproct. I suffer really badly and it's an almost instant fix for me. I would go back to the gp, you can't be flying without getting sorted, you'll be in agony!

3luckystars · 07/08/2022 22:51

Your GP will be able to help you. If they are thrombosed, it won’t go away by themselves. You will have to see the doctor to sort it.

My sympathies to you. All the best.

JackieQueen · 07/08/2022 23:03

A friend of mine got some numbing cream from her doctor. She's still waiting to hear from the hospital but at least she's in less pain now.

bottomwoes · 08/08/2022 17:21

Oh goodness, how I feel for you! I have just posted today about piles and taking laxido which appears to have given me a very sore bottom and kept me awake last night.
We also go away at the end of the week and am panicking about piles and sore bums….it’s miserable. Like you, most of the time, they don’t cause any problems.
I have ordered a tube of scheriproct from an online chemist today and am taking all the other stuff I have with me. It’s awful as I feel like I can’t look forward to our holiday ☹️. Am keeping everything crossed that they are under control while I’m there and don’t dominate my every thought.
I hope you feel better soon

BambooHandle · 08/08/2022 18:30

Externally thrombosed piles are agony

There's nothing the doctor will do past a certain point. You now just have to wait for them to go (which they do). Normally takes 7-10 days. Doctor told me it's one of the most painful things you can get! In other countries they will do surgery on them (they just drain them) if they catch them in the first few days but because it takes so long to even get to the Gp here, they just wait for them to go.

Buy a donut cushion and sit on frozen peas. I could barely sit down for a week!

MangeTrout · 08/08/2022 18:45

You poor thing, that sounds awful - when i had piles - although not as severe as yours - I found Epsom salts in a warm bath really helped.

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 08/08/2022 19:50

Thank you everyone for your replies, I am taking it all on board.

@JackieQueen i might see if I can get some numbing cream to help with the pain for my holiday, thank you.

@bottomwoes I feel for you, it’s pretty awful isn’t it! I hope the cream works for you. I’m still using it, I’m hoping it’s just going to take a while and it will start to work soon! I hope you’re better for you holiday so you can enjoy it properly.

@Staygoldponyboystaygold how are you getting on? Mine have got slightly better I think, but still being really annoying at times.
Got really constipated on holiday (totally normal for me when I’m away!) which didn’t help. Since we’ve been home, I’ve been taking a Ortis fruit and fibre cube every night which has kept everything really soft and regular, the horrible heavy feeling has gone…I assume because I’m not all blocked up, but they still feel a bit sore.
Am hoping now I’m going regularly, they will heal up over time. Wish they would just bloody disappear 😂

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 15/09/2022 20:49

@bottomwoes Im so much better thank you, they’ve almost gone. The Scheriproct cream did the trick, it just took a long time. I used it a lot longer than I probably should have. I’m so glad they’ve gone, I had no idea they could be so painful!!

How are you doing now? I hope they’re continuing to get better. Bloody annoying things!!

@Staygoldponyboystaygold so glad yours are better. What a relief!

not sure mine are actually. Just finished a weeks course of proctosedyl cream and suppositories which the GP prescribed. But still playing up 😩.

Mine are internal though, they come out after a BM and then over the course of the day shrink back up..nice!! But still feels stinging a lot…I’m wondering if I’ve perhaps got a little cut/cuts or something going on too?
Probably need to get the GP to have a look if it doesn’t improve soon. Great 😂

bottomwoes · 16/09/2022 12:14

@Staygoldponyboystaygold …meant to ask, how long did you use the scheriproct cream for? I’m nervous about using it for longer than you’re meant too because of thinning of the skin. I probably need a longer course of treatment

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 20/09/2022 16:26

@bottomwoes i used it for a couple of days longer than it was prescribed for, stopped for a week or two and then started again, just once a day before I went to bed. I was worried about skin thinning as well. I think you might need to see your gp if they don’t clear soon.

I had a colonoscopy for something else consultant said I had two internal ones he could remove privately. I said no because my SIL said post op it was very painful. NHS Wales don't do them anymore
