Does anyone who suffers from hypothyroidism have some days where they have no energy and struggle through the day and the next day they can be fine? Is this normal?
I don't know if I need to see GP or if this is a normal.

Are you on medication? It's definitely worth getting another blood test anyway to check your levels.

@blebbleb yes I take 150mcg levothyroxine. Yesterday i felt so exhausted I had to finish work early but today it's not so bad.

It could be unrelated if it's a one off. Maybe you're coming down with something but if the problem persists definitely ask your GP for a new blood test. You may need an increase in meds.

TiredButAlive · 06/08/2022 21:22

Yes! I'm doing alright on Levothyroxine but I still have what I call "bad thyroid" days every so often. Not sure why they happen. There's no real pattern.

I've been feeling a bit off for the past few weeks really struggled during the heatwave we had. Since then not been feeling great but this last week has been bad but not sure if that because of PMT.

Yes, I can have days/weeks of highs or lows even though bloods are ok.

@robinwatcher

How do you cope? I feel so exhausted, dreading work tomorrow because I feel so tired.

After you exhaust all resources you will just learn to live with it. It won't be this hard for ever but you will probably eventually accept that you are now a "low energy person" and just enjoy it when you actually feel energised. That's how I cope.... and I do go to bed at 8ish, I don't go to sleep straight away but that me time really helps me rest.

I still have bad/sluggish days or even weeks too. Do you have a regular blood test? I get one once yearly or more often if I feel unwell. I think I have a good Gp though. Definitely worth asking for a blood test anyway to set your mind at ease. Could even be something like low iron levels? They sometimes test for a few things if you mention the tiredness.

I’ve been on medication for years, and I still have days/weeks when I feel absolutely worn out. I was convinced a few years ago that I had lupus because I tick a lot of boxes for it. GP agreed and arranged a blood test, but it came back negative. When a routine blood test detected low iron once, I felt so relieved to know there was a reason for the tiredness and a solution. Unfortunately, it didn’t resolve the ongoing periods of fatigue. I have accepted it’s something I have to live with. It’s worth asking for a blood test to check your iron and B12 levels to rule those out.

I'm fine most of the time but every so often I have a day of feeling very weary - not sleepy but just totally washed out. Usually fine the next day though so I know what it is and just take it as part of the condition.
