Low blood pressure, dizzy, low energy

Hi,

for sometime I have had symptoms these symptoms: low energy, dizzy, occasionally get sweaty, clammy and cold, very tired (needing hours of sleep), low mood, picking things up and bending seems to increase symptoms. I've always had it mildly. Been to the doctor's and bloods say there is nothing wrong. One thing I have noticed is my blood pressure is always 60-something over 90-something, which I'm told is healthy.

Its got much worse since having COVID and the hot weather, which have happened about the same time.

Wondered if anyone else struggles with something similar? Doctors haven't done much investigation other than blood tests.

It could just be the low blood pressure. If so, how do others manage the symptoms, any tips?

i have low blood pressure, always have, you need more salt in your diet.

Wearefoooked22 · 03/08/2022 08:03

sounds more like an iron deficiency

Oh my! I could have written that! But my blood also came back clear - including iron levels and everything is fine.
although I think it might be pre menopausal symptoms but not sure where to go from here. I’m 39 and thought it was either low Blood pressure (drink more fluids!), anaemia, diabetes or hormonal.
i should get a copy of my blood results and see what they say. I think it’s hormonal now. Bloody hormones

Definitely get your results on paper. Look at your thyroid numbers. The GPs idea of poor thyroid function and the reality has a bit of gap in the TSH numbers.

Eat more? Drink more? Rule out the obvious first.

Sweaty and clammy aren't symptoms of iron deficiency. Hypothyroidism could make you sweat, but in general I feel cold with both.

I could have written this word for word some years ago. I was diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension, have a Google of it. The telling sign is the dizziness when you change position. Your doctor should take your BP when you're lying down and then immediately after you stand up, and measure the drop.

I was given medication, I felt a million times better immediately. The other important things are to stay hydrated, eat regularly (no fasting diets!) and get enough sleep.
