3 cancellations later and a 9 month wait for a small procedure at the hospital

I had a smear back in February and the nurse found a small vaginal polyp which she said needs removing. I was referred to the hospital and I received an appointment for April , the hospital then cancelled it and rebooked it for June unfortunately I then had to cancel as I had Covid, rebooked for mid July they than cancelled it again and rebooked it for next week now I have had a letter cancelling this appointment and a new appointment sent for 21st December. They have cancelled it 3 times now - I understand it is only a small procedure but the longer it is left the bigger it could get and the more complicated the procedure could get - 3 cancellations is a bit much really. So if I wait until December that is 9 months from referall to appointment. I am welcome to phone for cancellations but this is very rare. Do I complain to the hospital or is this the state of the NHS now?

I’ve had several polyps removed and they don’t tend to grow much so I wouldn’t worry about it getting bigger. You could ask your GP to chase this up for you as mine put me on the 2 week pathway after I’d waited 10 months last year. (GP had no concerns that it was cancerous but couldn’t perform a smear as the polyp was in the way).

I think it’s just how the NHS is now. Desperately hoping the next government isn’t sodding Tory.

I’ve got a very painful cyst on my wrist. My GP refused to do anything about it for a year and then referred me- hospital wrote back saying they wouldn’t do anything for SIX YEARS and to refer again then if it’s still there and causing pain. For context it’s painful to drive, exercise and type and only getting bigger.

I’m paying to have it removed privately (appreciate I’m lucky to have this option through work health insurance). My friend had exactly the same issue about 10 years ago and it was dealt with on the NHS in a couple of months.
