Does anyone have any experience of this please, acoustic neuroma. If so can they let me know outcomes and whether to operate etc. Also, tinnitus, has the operation improved the tinnitus and did the op have any side effects such as facial paralysis. Is that a temporary or permanent side effect. Really worried about the whole thing. Thanks

Usually there is no other option but to operate as the acoustic neuroma is already too big.

Do you have NF2 or is it an isolated event?
In this discussion, a MNetter , @Whitby1234 shares her experience with acoustic neuroma. www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/4449554-Long-shot-but-does-anyone-here-have-a-child-with-Neurofibromatosis?reply=118799361
It is towards the end of the discussion .
Maybe she can give you some more details.

If the operation is still optional but not urgent, you can try to stabilise and halt the tumour growth with Sulforaphane www.nature.com/articles/srep36215 . Worth a shot.

Hello I had an acoustic neuroma.
But I suffered severe side effects at the surgery. Have you an option as whether to operate or not ??

DH had one.

He was offered gamma knife or surgery.

He chose surgery. Mild transitory facial paralysis. He lost his hearing in that ear.
He had very severe headaches after surgery which persisted for some time, but he no longer has them. Overall no long term side effects except the hearing loss.
