HELP WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME -hypothyroid, high blood pressure, dizziness, ants-under-my-skin, achy muscles

Sorry if this becomes long...
Started a thread at the beginning of the week about my symptoms, but thing's have gotten worse. I saw a nurse this morning who measured my blood pressure: 140/90, where i normally do 120-130/70.
I have been hypothyroid since the birth of ds1 and am treated with 100mcg per day. Was put on Cerazette in November, becasue we wanted an alternative to condoms, came of that because of irregular, more or less continuous, bleeding, and went on micronor instead (On Jan8th). That's where the problem started: extremely exhausted, dizzy, crampy muscles, ants-under-my-skin. It started on Monday and has got progressively worse during the week. It seems to be worst just after food (for about 30 mins after eating), and i now have to lie down in fear of falling over.
This is not right! Does anyone on here have experience of Progesteron only contraceptive use in hypothyroidism? I am seeing a doctor again on Tuesday (they advised me to discontinue the POP), to see if symptoms have calmed down, but does anyone have any suggestions on what to ask for while i am there. Tests like for pregnancy (even though on contraceptive pill) and diabetes/blood sugar/protein in urine crossed my mind....
Please help.

Anyone?
Should add that my thyroid is probably ok. Just had a test, before these problems started and came back TSH=0.98, unfortunately for some reason freeT4 was not tested.

oh I don;t know but you sound very anxious and this can also carry symptons such as exhaustion and the ants under skin thing so the anxiety could be making things worse.

Am not dismissing your symptoms, just saying that the stress you are feeling because of this is not helping. I hope you find help soon.

You don't have an inner ear infection do you? Have you had a cold or flu recently? I have been dizzy etc and thought it was my thyroid as that can make me dizzy if I get my levels of thyroxine wrong - but it has turned out to be labyrithitis... Symptoms sound similar..

Thanks for posting! Just wanted to give an update: it's now become clear that all my symptoms were due to the micronor (maybe combination with thyroxin is not good?).

After stopping taking the pill (first missed dose on Saturday morning) I felt progressively better. So when I saw the gp on Tuesday I was completely symptom free: my dizziness is gone, i am not tired anymore, cramps and tingles are gone, and most of all my bloodpressure is back to 126/70. I am not going to go anywhere near hormonal brithcontrol in future!

Hi Honeybunny. Really glad you feel better and that it was just due to the pill. I have just been diagnosed as hypothyroid 6months after the birth of my DS (still quite shocked about it ). It seems there is a lot to take in being hypothyroid, am still really struggling with the thyroxine but hoping to feel better soon. Will defo be avoiding progesterone pill though. Looks like I will have to rely on the old withdrawal method that led to the conception of DS!!!

hi thumbellina,
for me, it seemed to take a little while before i got the right dose of thyroxin... but i was amazed at how much better i felt after i started taking it! at first i put my being tired down to being a new mum (was also diagnosed 5-6 months after birth of ds1). may have been similar for you?
LOL at withdrawal method... , but hope you're not serious.... (???) at least not if you don't want another for a little while.
i am going to check on the copper coil. i got a little brochure about it from the health centre. am slightly hesitant though, as it does seem to go astray sometimes, and don't like the idea of sharp "toothpicks" stuck "up there". i have some time to think about it fortunately, and maybe someone on here has experiences they'd like to sahre with me...?

Hi Honneybunny, I was also diagnosed six months after birth of DS .I was actually having all the symptoms of an overactive thyroid i.e palpatations weight loss etc but on testing came back as under! all very odd. It seems the thyroid is a complicated little gland but thankfully easily treated. I had never heard of post-partum thyroid problems but now I know they are incredibly common which is comforting. I won't be relying on the old WD method I promise, think I'd ought to give the poor old thyroid a rest before dragging it through another pregnancy !!! Not got any personal experience of a copper coil i'm afraid. I would imagine that they are very safe. I have friends who have them and they don't seem to have any problems
