Found a lump in my armpit

Hi all,
I noticed a lump in my armpit-can only see it when I move my arm in a certain position but then it comes out quite big (size of a small grape). I'm only 34 so before I go to the doctors I just wanted to get some ideas what it could be?
I've not been ill recently at all-only thing I can think of is I've been noticing my pulse fluttering in different parts of my body but I don't think that's anything much or connected.

I've not googled as I had a bereavement at the beginning of the year (although not cancer) so a lot of medical things are triggering atm so I thought it might be slightly less anxiety inducing to ask on here.
Oh and I don't check my breasts regularly cos they are so full of bumps anyway I'd have no idea what to look out for-every time I try I give up.

Unless your mother is a breast consultant, I would ignore her.

I had a small lump in my armpit/sideboob - GP was 100% fine with me getting it checked out, no suggestion it was a waste of time, and a fast appointment was made for an ultrasound (which determined it was a well-buried cyst and would probably - and did - go away on its own).

What medical qualifications does your mother have?

You know what you need to do, so please see your GP. And now you also know that your mother is capable of giving absolutely rubbish advice - always useful to know next time she gives you an opinion whether it is on parenting or your choice of curtains.

So much better to be safe than sorry. For lumps found they try to get you to consultant within 2 weeks, then they try to get you quick scan. Please, please go. I can't believe your own Mum is telling you not to get it checked out. If you had a daughter what would you be telling her to do?

KittenKong · 19/07/2022 17:07

I had a massive lump like that - and yes it was a lump of fat/gristle but I had to go to the hospital the get it checked out properly. My doctor removed it in his surgery.

Get it seen - they too can get it sorted. Your mum isn’t a doctor (I assume) or did she have X-ray vision?

Firefly1987 · 19/07/2022 21:30

Hi sorry on talking to my mum again she thinks I should go to doctors, it's just when I first showed her she didn't seem concerned but then she's not the openly panicking type.

@Firefly1987 how did you get on with the GP call?

SaintHelena · 22/07/2022 10:44

Do you also have swollen lymph nodes in your neck- under your jaw an inch or so forward and down?
Might mean just a swollen gland if you do - but you still need to see doc.

Firefly1987 · 22/07/2022 19:09

@SaintHelena hard to tell really, there might be something slightly. I've never had a swollen lymph node in my life so I have no idea how much they are supposed to stand out! I suppose I'd say no since nothing is clearly obvious.

@Kaileighohkaileigh I'll call on Monday, was waiting til I finished my period to see if anything changed and it was just hormonal or something.
