I'm a bit worried I might have symptoms of ovarian cancer

For the last few months I have felt so uncomfortable - stretched/bloated and have put it down to menopause. (I'm 50). But I also have episodes of constipation, stomach pain, loss of appetite, feeling full quickly. Like I sit with a cushion on my stomach, and I try to lie down rather than sit up.
It's just dawned on me that this might be more than menopause.

How are you, OP?

OneFrenchEgg · 13/03/2023 07:30

Hi squirrel - they told me that the blood test isn't 💯 and sent me for a scan instead, which thankfully revealed nothing sinister. So I'm thinking I'm probably right in the middle of meno - big bloating, constipated, no period for a few months.

Did they also do blood test for coeliac? Bloating was my main symptom.

Phew @OneFrenchEgg I'm very relieved for you. I hope your symptoms improve soon.

I am having similar. It’s come on quite quickly to coincide with a return of periods after a period of nothing, so I think it is menopause. However, I am going to make an appointment to ask for tests and also HRT. Reading around constipation is quite common in later menopause.

I did have a CA 125 test a couple of years ago which was fine.

Oh no, I think I was quite focussed on my fears around OC.

Thank you squirrel I am super relieved. It's easier to manage the meno stuff without the 'what if' lurking.
@Sindonym my GP was surprisingly receptive to testing so fingers crossed for you

For anyone really concerned it only cost me £150 for a private ovarian and uterine scan Too anxious to wait for nhs one. All clear so money well spent
