An unhealthy couple - any advice on M.E. and/or Ulcerative Colitis?

Hello All

I was a Mumsnetter some time ago, but due to health problems, I haven't logged on for months. I've been diagnosed with M.E. and my husband has just been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. I would be grateful to open up a discussion on either and keen to take any tips or comradeship (especially on the ME).

Many thanks!

Hi - thought I would reply as Mum to a 16 year old with severe ME. If you type ME/CFS into google you will get links to the various ME Associations, some of which have forums which are useful to sufferers/carers alike. There is the ME Association and Foggy Friends to start with. AYME is the Youth with ME Association which is very good and you may find the general info is useful. There is a huge amount of stuff out there. Not sure how badly you are affected but I am well aware what a dramatic impact it can have on your life. If you have any particular questions, do ask.

Hi there - thank you so much for replying. My Dad has ME too, but isn't into forums etc. I tried logging on to Foggy Friends but didn't know where to begin with a conversation. Any tips.

I'm off work currently. Apart from the dreadful fatigue, I suffer from recurring sore throats, muscle spasms, slow response/clumsiness and slow thought processing.

Trying to juggle life with ME with a 1 year old is very hard. I'm waiting to be seen by a specialist.

I'm sorry to hear about your 16 year old. Do you find routines are the best way to cope?
