Sinus infection yet again - Making me so depressed

Hi, had a terrible sinus infection a few weeks ago which has come back following catching a non covid bug from my children. So on antibiotics yet again. Steroid spray doesn’t seem to work anymore, in fact sometimes it makes it worse even though I have regular breaks from it. Am constantly steaming, sterimar etc, can’t do Netipot as blocks ears and makes me dizzy and I take high strength antihistamines and no dairy. I’m kicking myself as had an ent scan booked which I missed as had a tummy bug and then told my ent consultant that I didn’t want to re book as only option is surgery which hasn’t helped my mum and lots of others I’ve spoken to. I think I’ve change my mind as am desperate but the waiting list is now so long. Anything else I can try? I’ve been trying cranial osteopathy which did seem to help drain until I got the bug from my children. It’s making me so depressed -
I’ve been Ill for most of the last two months. Antibiotics do work until the next virus or bad hayfever gets infected and then there’s the thrush etc etc . Thanks

Rebook with the ent consultant I think is your best bet. At least listen to their treatment and discuss pros and cons. Maybe surgery isn't for everyone but it may help you or they may have other suggestions

Meant to add get on the waiting list and ask for any cancellations that may come. Plead your case that you have been on it previously and ill health and then poor mental health got in the way of attending. Or consider paying privately as a one off

OP

Probably different situation as I'd say mine became chronic at some stage ...I kept getting it again and again, I think I went to the GP over 20 times with bouts of it.
Anyway in the long term- I started taking zinc religiously, I barely get it once a year.

I have also suffered with my sinuses for years, and I have tried everything that you have listed. Not much has worked really and my GP hasn't been much good, so you have my sincere sympathies. I can only offer 3 bits of advice that make things more manageable but not a cure:
Water- seriously water, drink more than is recommended.
Air conditioning- avoid it like the plague, it seems to dry out my sinuses terribly, and if you have to be somewhere with it then the water is really important.
Sudafed mucus relief ( the one with the green and white packaging) works surprisingly well on sinus pain considering it's a non-prescription medicine.
Keep pestering your doctor, I am seriously considering saving and going private for sinus surgery.

Load and load of water and do not get dehydrated. Orange juice too and vitamin c everyday.

I used to get recurring sinus infections and had gone on antibiotics a few times. I tried inhaling steam, taking oil of oregano (which is disgusting) and all sorts of other things. I was finally desperate enough to try acupuncture and it actually worked! It's been almost 10 years and I've had maybe one medium intensity one since. Before going the surgery route, it may be worth trying it out.

OP
One other thing I tried is self lymph massage on my face - look it up on YouTube. It actually worked in that it moved the infected liquid from my face so thank god less of that horrible face /nose/ skull pain.
Unfortunately it did move it to my neck or so, giving me infected sore throats quickly enough...I hate that pain also, but still not as bad as the face pain.

I had the FESS surgery and it worked for me. They cut a bit out as well as widening the canal Have you tried the Neilmed sinus rinse?

I'm not sure if it's the same as the netipot. They give you the Neilmed after the surgery. It's weird at first but good.
