Constant feet ache. What is causing this?

Good morning, please can anybody help?
For background purposes, I’m mid fifties, and on my feet all day at work, though I’m trying/learning to sit down when I get a chance.
I wear flat shoes most of the time, in and out of work.

The ache comes from my ankles downwards to my feet, and it feels like it’s the whole of my feet that aches.

They also ache when I’m in bed and when I get up during the night to go to the bathroom. It’s as though I’m walking flat footed like a penguin.
What could this be?

Menopause !
Id get some cod liver oil and good supportive shoes, not flat like ballet pumps.

First think I thought was could it be stress on the bones? IE, is it weight related? Do you wear proper orthotic shoes?

Does it feel any better when you have been walking around (with shoes on) for a little while?
I have planter fasciitis and although this doesn't sound exactly like that, it could be similar maybe. For me, completely flat shoes aren't actually great. It's much more comfortable to wear things like trainers that have a slight lift in the heal. For mine, there are some certain exercises that help but would be specific to my issue.

It's probably worth speaking to your doctor or seeing if you can get a referral to a physio to great a proper treatment plan.

@KangarooKenny , thank you, I already take cod liver oil capsules, think I’d better ditch the ballet/flat shoes.

@DenholmElliot1 thank you, weight wise, probably half a stone heavier at the most, so could do with shifting that off.

@Cocobeau thank you, yes they do feel better after a walk with shoes on.

Looks like the common denominator is the flat shoes then, with the extra couple of pounds.

I have a pair of Skechers with a heel, but for work I’ll start looking for shoes with support.
