I am mildly asthmatic and have just got a peak flow meter and was wondering what I should expect a good peak flow to be

Depends on your age, height and fitness level as far as I know, Asthma UK have an article here. You need to get an idea of what is good for you, my DD has peak flows well above the average for her age and height so when her peak flow drops to the norm for her age group she can actually be quite poorly controlled.

It varies by age and height and sex, the packaging should have a chart in it somewhere? Where did you get it from?

Have you tried looking on the leaflet that comes with the PF meter or Google?

It is very individual. Mine is around 410 when well.

It really really depends on your body - according to the chart, I should have a peak flow of about 430. Mine is usually around 310, and I've never blown over 330. I do have asthma, but at the moment it's well controlled and I'm virtually symptom free. In discussion with an asthma nurse, I have peak flows at which I take various action (varying from taking my preventer a bit more to going to A&E now; I've never had to do the latter). But they are personal to me, and definitely wouldn't apply to others - some people would be hospitalised at 310.

In short, you need to keep a record of what you blow so you can work out what's normal for you, and when you need more medication etc.

Thanks for the link. I will take a look. The meter is the same as the one on the Asthma UK site
