I’ve been prescribed prochlorperazine by my Gp for vertigo.. I’ve never had it before and have no idea what the route cause of me having this is..I’m fine sat in a certain position and not moving however the second I stand up the room is spinning and I vomit.. it’s horrible I’ve had two doses so far and not really seen Any difference I’ve been sick again since taking the second dose.. I don’t expect miracles but I did read it takes 30-60 mins to take effect.. has it been longer for anyone else who’s been prescribed this?

Glad you have some relief, go back to the GP if symptoms persist. Take care.

I had Stemetil for morning sickness and the trick was to take the pill when I was just waking up and drowsy - almost pre-empting the sickness. Once I was fully awake and the sick feeling had properly kicked in it didn't make the feeling go away as effectively. I remember it made my legs feel a bit tingly too but that was all.

Relieved for you that the sickness has eased! Drowsy is good - hopefully you can sleep it off. Best wishes Flowers

Thank you I’ve definitely been doing a lot of sleeping today xx

You poor thing, it’s totally debilitating, I take this from time to time, I suffer with vertigo & nystagmus quite regularly, it’s such an awful feeling. I hope you feel better soon.

Glad you have got some relief and hope you are feeling better soon O.P, Vertigo really is a horrible, debilitating condition. Don't worry about feeling drowsy, l found that wore off after a while, leaving me with just a slightly sedated feeling.

Ive had it for labrynthitis, hyperemesis and migraine over the years. Never had any negative side effects.

Samcj02 · 07/07/2022 11:45

I’ve noticed today very random bye my lips are very pale I’m wandering if this maybe caused by something else x

I've had unexplained dizziness for a 15 months now, And sit, stand, walk without this horrendous feeling, gp initially thought labrynthitis but Prochlorperazine managed carefully even over the max dose hasn't made the slightest bit of difference. e

I hope you're feeling better soon. The vulnerability of feeling so helpless is horrendous.

Have you any blood tests to rule other things out? X

@TheCanyon This sounds awful, have you been tested for Meunieres disease? My brother has this and manages his symptoms with Betahistine.
@Samcj02 So glad you are seeing some improvement, that's a relief for you! l've not noticed any change in lip colour with prochlorperazine, so maybe something else?

That’s what I was thinking, I might request some blood tests just to be on the safe side!

An update I’m feeling much better today just slightly light headed when I’m walking. Hopefully over the worst of it

Glad you’re feeling better.

A blood test won’t detect Ménière’s disease. It causes deafness, tinnitus and vertigo, all three. There are lots of other causes of vertigo, though. I had Menieres years ago but it finally resolved leaving me quite deaf in one ear.
