Is there a temperature + headache bug going round?

DD2 had a temperature on Friday until Tuesday and then it dropped back to just above normal yesterday and has stayed down, but since then she also seems to have had a headache (she's only just 2 so the communication skills require some translation). I took her to the GP today who rather predictably diagnosed "some kind of virus" and we were sent on our way. She swings from being totally normal one minute and quite happy (but not on top form) to really sobbing and saying 'hurt head" the next.

What I want to know is if anyone else or their LO's have experienced a similar bug recently? I am deeply uncomfortable about a toddler with limited speech having a headache that is strong enough to make her cry alot and I suppose I'm looking for reassurance.

Any advice?

Maybe - my DD was sent home from school yesterday with similar vague symtpms, smaller DD also complaining of headache today and a bit grotty. Probably is just a virus but I agree headaches are concerning with small ones - does she feel better with Calpool or Nurofen? Any other symptoms such as sensitivity to light? I know my little one once said she had a headache trying to come out of her ear - turned out it was earache. It's hard for them to be specific about general aches and pains at this age.

Well, Calpol / nurofen seems to abate it a bit but not that much. It's hard to tell because she's fine one minute and beside herself the next. She has no other symptoms although she did say on Friday that her neck hurt but I suspect that was just her glands feeling sore - she has not really mentioned it since and has good neck mobility in all directions.

She has also occasionally said she has tummy ache. Her appeitie is rubbish and I'm just letting her graze on fruit and snacks rather than forcing a large meal into her.

GP said her ear looked a little sore but she's bring her hands to the back and top of her head when complaining of pain.

ds has had high temp, runny nose, headache, sore throat, tummy aches and head aches

ds has high temp at the moment too.
He clearly feels rubbish and I think he may have headache as he has been holding his head, but doesn't really verbalise it.
He will get sudden bursts of perkiness whihc then wear off quickly as he runs out of energy.

There is a lot of bugs going on at the minute. My dd1 came home from school the other day complaining of a sore head then the next day it was a sore ear. Calpol and early night seemed to fix her but I know there are nasty things going round just now. We are in Scotland though dont know where you are?

my 15 month old has a temperature today (38.7degrees) and has been off his food and a bit listless. He has been put to bed with some nurofen and i just hope he is ok through the night. Its not so long since he had the D & V bug, poor soul. (also in Scotland!)

My DS is twelve years old and has had this very same virus... He had a temperature on Wednesday (102) and then felt much more perky on Thursday, but has had a horrible headache Thursday, yesterday and today. He's been drinking lots of water. One minute he's bouncing on the trampoline and playing footy with his Dad, the next he's inside looking very glassy-eyed and saying his head is still hurting. It's rotten isn't it. I reckon it must be a virus that hangs on with a nasty headache. Get well kiddies !
