Hi

I burnt myself on the cooker a few days ago nothing major, it kind of blistered, the blister got scrapped off today, now the skin is raised, and the redness is spreading around my arms

The photo doesn’t show how bad it is, it’s very raised, and the blister is not in full view as trying to show the redness spreading.

should I be worried?

thanks

Did you burn that red line bit? If not, that does t look good. And nor does the fax that it's swollen I think it might be infected and you should get it checked out.

(Am not a doctor)

Sophie9090 · 03/07/2022 01:00

No the red line is not a burn, it just start spreading. Do you think it can wait until tomorrow like it’s not an emergency, I’m worried about sepsis or something

Hi, first post so bear with me... I'd be inclined to draw around it with a biro so you can measure how fast it's spreading and then call 111,(also note the time of the outline so at least you can tell them when you speak to someone). But much depends on how you feel in yourself, do you have a temperature? Feel fluey, generally unwell or out of sorts if so I'd recommend being seen tonight as none of us online can give you a definitive answer and it would be wrong if we did.
Hope you get sorted soon x

I went to a&e recently with a burn like this. It
out was fine at first then i had a bath and it got irritated and red like yours. It was infected. I was told i could wait for 8 hours of come in the morning to the minor injuries unit. They cleaned it and dressed it and gave me anti notice and it was better v quickly. Do the same.

SufferingJet · 03/07/2022 01:47

Antibiotics. Sorry!

SQLserved · 03/07/2022 02:21

Seconded. Don’t hang about, go straight in to A&E and prepare for being admitted for IV antibiotics.

BettaSplenden · 03/07/2022 02:27

Yup that's infection tracking. You need to go to ED asap for that.

Icepinkeskimo · 03/07/2022 02:32

OP if you haven’t already left for A&E, please do immediately.
The sooner you get there the better, don’t worry but do not leave it till the morning.
Thinking of you.

better safe than sorry.
seek medical help.

DiscoBadgers · 03/07/2022 02:53

Do you have a pic of when you first did it/ before the blister popped for comparison? Draw round the redness with a biro so you can see if it’s spreading but if that’s new readiness and spreading then yes it needs looking at I’m afraid.

SQLserved · 03/07/2022 23:10

@Sophie9090 how are you today?

Sophie9090 · 04/07/2022 01:15

@SQLserved thanks for checking in, I saw an out of GP yesterday and they didn’t feel it was infected, the tracking had improved and the swelling had gone down so she said my body is fighting it off okay. No antibiotics but to keep an eye on it :)

Surprised at your doctors response, I had very similar recently and the response was very much “emergency!” from every doctor I saw.

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better! :)
