Anxious over Covid

Hi
Not sure where to post this in Covid mental or general health but I have never had Covid yet . Both my children have sep 21 and dec 21 .
I suffer from health anxiety but so far have not been anxious over Covid (until last few weeks )

Previously most people I knew had it quite mild etc but in last 2-3 weeks everyone I have heard off has been quite poorly and in bed etc . Also looking at Covid pages people seem to be say By same that’s it’s horrible etc etc

I am really worrying over it now and also my parents who are elderly getting it . I can’t seem to shake this fear and back to limiting my exposure.

We are due today go abroad end of next week and I am scared we get it before or worse there to point nearly cancelling

Any stories of mild cases in last 2-3 weeks for first time ? All I hear is bad reports

Ellie

I'm currently abroad and 3 out of 4 of us have covid. Ds started with a scratchy throat and tested positive on the Sunday after we got here (flew Saturday). Dd and I sat either side of him on the plane and its us 2 that now have symptoms. I took a test yesterday and it was positive. Dd hasn't tested but we're assuming she has it as her symptoms are the same as mine.

Ds - scratchy sore throat and runny nose - feels mostly OK now
Dd and i - scratchy throat, runny and blocked nose and a dry cough

Its like having a head cold and hopefully symptoms don't get worse. Dh avoiding it so far so he's the one going to the supermarket (we are in a villa so it's easy to keep away from other people)

Are you vaccinated @Elliejane?

lunar1 · 30/06/2022 17:06

There are loads of very mild cases, people don't generally post when it's not causing significant problems.

dementedpixie · 30/06/2022 17:15

I think it can take a few days to get to the stage of getting a positive test. I was negative on Tuesday and positive on Wednesday. At least on holiday I can top up my vitamin D in the sun.

Ds - had 2 vaccines as he's 15 and isn't offered a booster yet
Rest of us have had all vaccines including booster

Elliejane · 30/06/2022 17:36

@lunar1 I needed to hear that
yes fully vaccinated we all are . Youngest son had it on first day of Xmas holidays so missed Xmas totally . He had booster jab in April so be disappointing if this him getting it again june

If you are all fully vaccinated then even if you do catch Covid, you should only get it mildly.

I appreciate that your anxiety isn't rational, but if you can try and focus on this it will help you.

We all have it at the moment. Im chronically I'll and it hit me worst but was like a very bad cold. Others in the family were over it in 4 days with just a slight cold. Hardly knew they had it at all.

Fedupsequin · 30/06/2022 17:48

I’m currently positive for the first time. I tested positive on Friday, I was rough on Saturday but it was just a big headache, body aches and fever. Since then I’ve been fine, just a bit tired and achey. 2/3 dc currently have it for the second time and their only symptoms sew sneezing and runny noses.

I know lots of people who were fine with it - but they don't post about it.
I had it at Easter. I won't bore you with my experience as it's extremely rare.
Honestly, most people I know have had it twice and been fine both times.
