Covered in bites from the garden...advice needed

I keep being bitten in our garden and am now totally covered in bites and bite scars, particularly on my legs. It's getting me down and I feel I've lost my confidence getting my legs out in whilst it's summer as I'm just so conscious of the marks. Does anyone have recommendations of how to stop being bitten, and also how to get rid of the marks/bite scars? My husband doesn't seem affected but for some reason I am constantly covered. Thanks

I'm probably stating the obvious but:

Don't sit directly on the grass with bare skin
Use a decent insect repellent (I use jungle formula even in the U.K.)
Use antihistamine if you react to bites to minimise swelling/scratching and subsequent scarring
Standing water encourages mosquitoes so cover rain butts

Hayfever can mimic bite appearances, definitely not hayfever?

DEET all the way...

Whats biting you? Is it long grass? Are you sitting on ants ?
Mosquitos?

Thanks all, that's massively helpful. I really don't know what it is biting me but I presume mosquitos. I did wonder if it could be bed bugs at one point but they aren't biting my husband so I don't think it can be that. I will try and spray myself before going into the garden and take antihistamines if I notice i am itchy etc to nip it in the bud. @wheresmyshoe can I ask, when you say 'standing water' do you mean things like sprinklers? My hubby often uses one on the back lawn....I wonder if that could be making the propel worse. Thanks

I was thinking more shallow still ponds, buckets of water but if your husband is creating dank damp areas from the sprinkler it could have a similar effect.

I'm the same, I spray with jungle formula every night about 6, have a citronella spiral incense stick in the doorway if back door is open and a a jungle formula plug in in my bedroom. Since doing this for the last 2 years I haven't been bitten. Hope this helps

There's a bug spray called Peaceful Night, that isn't easy to get here but is used by relatives who live in East Africa, it's the only spray I've ever used that works. Jungle Formula makes no difference to me at all
