Well, the title says it all really.

I have religiously checked for lumps (read somewhere that it could be due to cancer behind a duct or something but not entirely believing of it tbh).

Weird isn't it - it isn't a lot (only drops at a time).

Also, every month they get so very tender that I can't keep my bra on for longer than absolutely necessary; if I don't go out, I don't wear it! Although I understand that is quite "normal"?

Too embarrased to see a doctor - just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Erm Lewis no name-change apparent lol.

Ahem

Very interested in this, I stopped BF nearly 5 years ago, I still get BM leaking, but only from the one boob (one with the nasty crack)

I think that we are wierd, please would someone tell us ?

BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/01/2008 23:59

My DS2 born in April 2002, BF stopped Dec 2002, in case you think I am lazy copycat !

Alambil · 16/01/2008 00:02

LOL I realised JUST as I pressed "create conversation" ... oh well! Not that bad a question really is it lol.

At least if no-one says anything, we can be feeling weird together

oh you guys!

My son was born in april 02. But my breasts knows how to contain themselves.

FatBellyJones · 16/01/2008 00:24

my youngest is 15 years old and I still get that too lewisfan.

GP told me it's nothng to worry about

milou2 · 16/01/2008 11:23

I was able to express a few drops for a long time after the last child stopped suckling. Obviously expressing a few drops to see if milk was there would give the signal to keep on producing a minimal level!

TMI....I get a bit of fatty stuff on the ends of my nipples and I'm sure it's simply a micro minimal amount of milk which comes to the surface via the ducts. Maybe once a nursing mother, always a potential nursing mother/grandmother??

A lady I met in a train once told me she still had milk 2 years after stopping bf. How did the conversation get onto that, I think I was still pg with my first at the time.

Can you turn the drops to advantage and offer on the end of your finger to yr children as medicine, anti bodies and all that.

It could be useful to mention to docctor, maybe he/she has just been reading up on bf at the weekend.

HuwEdwards · 16/01/2008 11:30

could be a hormone imbalance

chipmonkey · 16/01/2008 11:55

LewisFan, is that you?{grin]

I would think that if it's that you have never stopped lactating, then it's probably normal. But if you stopped bfing, stopped lactating and then re-started for no apparent reason, I would see your GP. Believe me, they have heard far weirder things that that!

FWIW, I never stopped producing milk after ds1 and my milk supply for ds2 was fantastic from the very start, he was a real chubbster!

Ds3 was in SCBU and I had to express for him and I found that I got 90ml of milk from the very start, way more than he needed whereas a lot of first-time Mums seemed to struggle with supply.

ConnorTraceptive · 16/01/2008 11:58

I carried on lactating for two years after finishing b-feeding it's stopped now i'm pregnant

GreenGlassGoblin · 16/01/2008 12:01

I've only been stopped for a month (bf-ing, that is), so a bit early to be concerned, but I was wondering when my milk was going to dry up. Maybe it won't!

Furball · 16/01/2008 12:06

I get this - I mentioned it to the doctor and she said she would check my blood for any imbalances and it came back normal. I would see a doctor though just in case.

Furball · 16/01/2008 12:07

ds is 6 1/2!

Wisteria · 16/01/2008 12:10

Can't remember exactly how long but I know mine carried on for a long time and up to about 2 years ago (which would be about 8 yrs since stopping bf) I could still get milk out if I applied a bit of pressure..

Not embarrassing at all Lewis - you weirdo

donnie · 16/01/2008 14:11

I had this after I stopped bfing dd1, I was leaking for at least 2 years afterwards. It is a condition called Galactorrhea ( sp?) and the Doc said she could give me pills to suppress it but they would have other side effects. It did stop after I had dd2 though.

Alambil · 16/01/2008 19:46

Hormones are fine (checked them for PCOS) so know that is off the list.

I haven't ever stopped (as in restarted) but it's just gone to a very minimal amount - maybe it is just in waiting for the next kid (lonnnng way off!)

Thanks for all the reassurance though
