Can't eat

That's it. I can't eat. I haven't eaten properly for 6 weeks or so. I've lost just under half a stone in the last week alone (bought scales the other day, because I was worried, never owned scales before, i don't know what i weighed before).

I've also had pain in my ovary / pelvis, constipation, bloating and have been tired all the time for what seems like forever.

I had a blood test last week, results are all normal. Dr thought maybe coeliac as my mum has it but I've had blood tests for that several times in my life and always told I don't have that.

What could be wrong with me? I want to eat, I really really do. I love food and I miss it!

When did you last get tested for coeliac disease? Since 2017 there’s been a different test that tests for something called like igA deficiency… not completely sure but my mum is coeliac and I only tested positive for it after my third test in my life, after they started doing this new test. It was then confirmed via endoscopy.

OP I had this a few years ago, never felt hungry and even the smell of food made me nauseous. I lost a huge amount of weight, bloods and endoscopy/colonoscopy all normal. Anti-anxiety meds saved my life in the end.

I don't remember when I was tested for coeliac, but it was a long time ago, certainly before 2017.

Just to follow up and if anyone else has this issue and has found this thread...

I told my Dr about the weight loss and she referred me to the Tapid Diagnostic team, and I have an appointment to see them this week. I should be getting a CT scan but there's a waiting list, so hopefully I'll get some answers soon. The Dr I spoke to on the phone asked a lot of questions and seemed much more thorough than my GP (who is doing her best! She passed me on to the other team, so that's positive, right?)

Thanks again for the kind words and good advice. I feel like I'm getting somewhere with all this... spent most of the weekend in bed and ate a little more on Saturday but next to nothing on Sunday.

I'm in the same boat, hardly eaten for about six weeks and lost one and a half stones in weight. Now hardly sleeping, have no appetite at all.

MissSmiley · 08/07/2022 22:47

@Nightswimmer80 what's been going on in your life lately? Stress? Or or you have any other signs of illness? I'm guessing you haven't been to the GP yet

Yes, stress. I had one ear microsuctioned on 9th may and it left it feeling blocked and Ive been feeling disorientated ever since. I've seen a ENT consultant who reckoned there's some hearing loss from the procedure. I was okay the first two weeks afterwards then just lost my appetite completely. Now mostly living on complan and feeling dreadful, also now hardly sleeping. I really want to eat 😭
