I’ve had this dry patch of skin on my elbow for a couple of weeks. Over the last few days it’s got a bit more crusty and sore right in the bend of my elbow. It’s not particularly weepy but is wet in the crack. Is it worth contacting the GP surgery tomorrow? Hopefully I’ve attached a photo.

It’s not as big a patch as it looks on the photo. I’ve been to the nurse she’s done a swab, cleaned it and given me some antibiotics and an antibiotic cream.

VB my GP said if it wasn't improving after 24 hours to get to the hospital. Did nurse give you any advice??

Yes she said if it’s no better in a couple of days, gets worse or I feel unwell or get a temperature to go back.

Gosh that made me gasp. Please take care. Hope it clears soon. Or must be so painful

Cameleongirl · 28/06/2022 03:25

Oh that’s looks nasty. I’m glad you had it seen, I hope it clears up well.

It’s on the mend now, I got the swab results back that showed a heavy growth of Staph A and I’m on the right antibiotics. Glad I went.

Good news. Glad you are OK and thank you for updating. The photos were alarming

I thought it looked staphy. Fun fact: staph a is staph aureus. It means golden staph, and it was named for the colour of crusting you get.
