What is wrong with me, don't know what tests to push for next

It's been about 4/5 weeks since my symptoms started. The first thing that happened was painful sex. Followed by constant pelvic pain (like period pains which I don't normally get) which radiates round to the bottom right of my back.
Then a few days later I started feeling bloated and tight and couldn't eat much without feeling full/nauseous.
My stomach is now 3 inches bigger than it was but I have lost 7lbs weight (probably because I'm not eating anywhere near as much)
My stomach is the same all day- even without eating anything.
My gp referred me for blood tests (at my insistence) and did a CA125 test which was normal.
I have had a private ultrasound today and was advised everything looked normal, both ovaries fine etc.
So what do I do now? Could it be something gastro related, assuming that couldn't be seen on ultrasound?
I am going back to my gp who I'm pretty sure is just going to try and fob me off with 'pulled muscle' again. But I look 5 months pregnant! I can't eat properly and I'm in pain all the time so I can't carry on like this!

Anyone?

I’d go back to the GP and ask again for tests. They may refer you to gynae for an NHS ultrasound or a CT but they should be doing something given your symptoms and the fact CA125 is not totally reliable.

Riverlee · 25/06/2022 18:14

I think you should go back to your go and ask for a gynae referral. Something is definantly not right.

Must admit, ovarian cancer was the first thing I thought of when you mentioned a swollen stomach, or ovarian cysts, but you said your ovaries have been looked at. The pain made me wonder if it were a prolapse.

Go back and insist on an urgent referral.

RedCarsGoFaster · 25/06/2022 18:16

What did the private ultrasound actually check? What were the parameters? Have you been given a report to pass to your GP or are they sending one for you?

thebeesknees123 · 25/06/2022 18:22

Bladder/kidneys? Any urinary symptoms?

canteatlovefood · 25/06/2022 19:05

I should get the report from the ultrasound sent to me on Monday as well as to the gp.
I must admit after googling and the symptoms (constant bloating, pelvic pain, feeling full quickly) I thought it must be my ovaries but if they're fine on ultrasound?
She showed me ovaries, bladder, uterus (measured the lining) & liver. Now that I think of it I'm not sure she checked kidneys, but surely she did.

I can't get over how big my stomach looks and the fact that it never goes away is worrying me. I keep expecting to wake up and be back to normal but no such luck yet. I've tried some buscopan today but that's hasn't made a difference.

I just know I'm going to have to push the gp and I don't have the energy. She insisted it was a uti first (without a sample or seeing me) and just gave me antibiotics. After 3 days I said not helping and insisted on a sample, and as I suspected there was no sign of infection. So then she told me it's probably a pulled muscle.

Have your bowel habits changed?

Sidge · 25/06/2022 19:10

Normal ultrasound is reassuring along with normal bloods.

Vaginal swabs for infection would be a good idea. Chlamydia and bacterial infections can cause PID.

If your liver function tests were normal that’s good, have you tried something like an antacid? You can also buy omeprazole over the counter to try.

canteatlovefood · 25/06/2022 19:28

@GoldenEclipse
At first I was constipated, then normal for a while and then yesterday I had one bout of diarrhoea and haven't been since.

I've tried omeprazole. This peppermint stuff is giving me indigestion today tho.

Not possible to have an STI, however discussed PID with gp originally but was given a broad spectrum antibiotic (for the assumed uti) which would have solved that?

I am obviously happy the ultrasound was fine but I just want to know what's wrong and how I fix it cos it's really affecting my life.

I wondered if I should ask for a CRP blood test for inflammation?

Have you had a smear test?

bobbinsboo · 25/06/2022 21:42

Explain to your GP your change in bowel habit and 1/2 stone weight loss. This should be enough to steer toward gastro investigations, at least to rule anything out.

canteatlovefood · 25/06/2022 21:53

@SophiaLarsen
So it'll be 3 years next month but this has changed to 5 years now has it?

OP posts:
canteatlovefood · 25/06/2022 21:58

@bobbinsboo
Yes I'll reiterate. She knows all this and just seems unconcerned.
I mean it makes sense I'm losing weight as I'm not eating anywhere near as much as normal.

thebeesknees123 · 25/06/2022 22:21

You are not wanting to eat, right? Is that because it makes you feel sick? If that is the case, maybe it is a good reason to look at stomach or bowels or both

GreenIsle · 25/06/2022 22:25

Get an urgent smear test op

What is wrong with me, don't know what tests to push for next
Sidge · 26/06/2022 14:37

There’s no such thing as an urgent smear test. It’s a screening tool not a diagnostic test. Alarming symptoms would warrant colposcopy, not a smear.

@canteatlovefood if you’re due a smear and have received a letter you can book now. It’s 5 yearly in Wales and Scotland and 3 yearly in England and Northern Ireland from 25-50. Then it’s 5 yearly.

canteatlovefood · 26/06/2022 16:49

@thebeesknees123
Yes that's right, I feel so full and sore after eating so I'm eating much much less. I think I'll stress this to the gp tomorrow.

Well I meant get a smear test urgently!

Yes you can get one if symptoms.

Musicaltheatremum · 26/06/2022 17:14

You don't get smear tests for symptoms you get a gynae colposcopy referral. The labs will simply not process a smear test outwith the prescribed times as it is a screening not a diagnostic test.

Sidge · 27/06/2022 07:18

You can’t get one if you have symptoms, that’s the point.

If you are due one then of course it’s a good idea to have it done asap but it is not a diagnostic tool. If you tell the GP you have symptoms you should be referred to colposcopy for assessment. They will assess and possibly sample the cervix but it is not a smear as such.

SweetSakura · 27/06/2022 07:47

Definitely push your GP today.

Did the ultrasound check your bowels? It could be bad constipation, but that in itself can be very serious if not dealt with.

canteatlovefood · 27/06/2022 21:02

@SweetSakura
Gp is calling me tomorrow so I have a list of all my symptoms.

Ultrasound didn't check bowels so this is my next thought. However I was only constipated once about a week ago and everything been working fine since.

Bit random but ask for a blood test for coeliac if you haven't had that covered already. Many people report pelvic pain as a symptom and it's symptoms spread much further than the often thought of digestive ones.

IBS? Fibroids?
