Sharp left sided chest pain

I was drinking a cup of tea in bed first thing this morning when out of the blue I got a strong sharp pain in the left side of my chest behind my breast. Sharp stabbing pain, worse when breathing in to the point I could only take shallow breaths. Changing position, moving around, lying down etc. didn’t help. I felt ok in myself. It lasted about 2 hours then stopped as suddenly as it started. Maybe a coincidence but I got a migraine straight after it eased.
Didn’t feel like indigestion, no cough/cold symptoms.
Does anyone know what could cause that kind of chest pain? I’ve got a few odd things going on at the moment - stomach problems, low iron, possible autoimmune thing…. I wasn’t panicking or anxious at the time it started.

Don't ask MN! Ring for NHS advice. For chest pain it should be 999 but i understand how you could think "oooh nowhere near serious enough for 999, don't want to make a fuss" (as women are socialised like that!) but even if you ring 111 they will probably triage it as 999 urgent.

It could be any number of things. But MN is NOT the place to ask, please seek proper medical advice.

(I wish threads like thos were locked with that message but hey ho)

Hope you're OK.

Do as pp says.
Yes, it's probably trapped wind.
No, none of us know that.
You need to be checked and will be prioritized and don't feel daft for going.

The pain completely disappeared after a couple of hours. I was alarmed at the time, but appear to be fine! If it happens again I will speak to my GP / call 111. The type of pain didn’t match descriptions of heart attacks at all. In fact I couldn’t find anything that sounded similar!

Heart attacks in women are harder to spot, the symptoms can vary slightly. It could be angina, which is still serious and shows that you need assessment.

As a minimum, please call an out of hours today. They might be able to do a blood test to check what happened. Waiting rules that out.

If it happens again then call 999 for sure. Don't wait until it's too late.
