Anyone else tried Magnesium OK for PMT? Feeling like a bit of a wonder drug today...

I've mentioned Magnesium OK on here before, here

I've taken it on and off for two or three years now. Last month I was in floods of tears, stressed for two days, achy legs, back, the works. This month is sooooo much better, and judging by previous experience next month I'll sail through the whole nasty business. I don't even take it every day (cos I forget [dim])

Feel slightly sceptical about the whole thing but also slightly evangelical. Confused? yes. But it's working so I thought I'd mention it.

Anyone else had any experience of it?

Any reason why I should be sceptical?

My PMT is getting worse with age - I'm 39. I never had any problems really before kids but now I am raging bull!

I'm another evangelist re Magnesium supplements and PMS - I had horrendous mood swings, tearfulness, gobsmakingly irrational phases etc etc - I didn't need to look at a calendar to tell when I was due because it was clearly apparent to the whole household! Now my period sometimes takes me by surprise - I still have my moments, and it hasn't affected the pain levels, but it has really helped.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for you Diva. Interesting though, I'd love to know why it works for some and not for others. In other words, how can I change my lifestyle so I don't need to take it?
However, I've also discovered it turns your wee bright yellow. Apparently this is a harmless side effect but entertaining, no?

could i have been doing something wrong,i mean,do you have to take it for a couple of cycles before it kicks in,or start taking it at a certain time in the cycle?[desperate]

i wouldnt care what colour my pee was if i didnt get PMS anymore.actually, its PMDD i suffer from,so the gp said.

Well as far as I understand, and I've been looking at this as well, it's basically a food supplement so anytime of the month, but can take 8 weeks to kick in but I usually take it when desperate (ie a particularly bad month) and notice an improvement the follwoing month. I then take it for a couple more months until I think "why am I taking this I'm fine?!" and then it declines until I'm desperate again. But I guess some months just are worse than others so difficult to demonstrate this is scientific!

Peaches I follow exactly the same pattern as you.
