Pain after eating

Any one had this before? I think I will have to try and get a GP appointment at some stage for this. Every now and then (maybe a couple of times a day one day and then other days once a day or not at all) I get pains after I eat. It starts about 10 minutes after lasts about an hour. The pain is right along the front of my stomach and it goes from rib cage to rib cage. Like you know if you were measuring your underbust for a bra fitting, it's just a bit south of there. Some episodes are worse than others but I've just spent over an hour doubled up in pain and am only coming out of it now Confused

Oh I meant to add. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. I ate a spicy pizza the other day and was fine after. But there have been times I've been in pain after eating crackers. No rhyme nor reason that I can make out!

If its right side, could it be your gallbladder?

Blowyourowntrumpet · 16/06/2022 16:52

Sounds like gallstones. I have exactly the same

LuckyAmy1986 · 16/06/2022 16:52

I used to get this. I ended up having a camera up and down and diagnosis was ibs with constipation (slow moving digestion and a hiatus hernia. I’m fine now after losing some weight I don’t get the pains anymore but was horrific. I do get flare ups of heartburn thougblh where intake medication for a couple of weeks. Any chance it could be anything like that?

SunflowerGardens · 16/06/2022 16:52

It's sort on both sides but probably a bit worse on the left!

Gallstones

mocktail · 16/06/2022 16:54

It does sound a bit like gallstones although that's usually more common after fatty foods.

SunflowerGardens · 16/06/2022 16:56

Just reading about gallstones. I am overweight and approaching 40 so that does seem to make sense. Maybe I should keep a diary of what I eat and the symptoms?

Sounds just like mine was but definitely get it looked into

If you press along it do you feel certain sore spots that are more tender?

Chardonnay73 · 16/06/2022 16:57

Gastris. Ie stomach inflammation or excess acid. Try nexium, it works wonders. I had this and that’s what the GP put me on.

Not really but I am pressing now when the pain has gone. I'll try again when it comes back! The only other thing I've noticed is that after one of these episodes of pain I often have to do two or three big wees in a short space of time.

I know no one on here can tell me what the problem is but it's really helpful to hear peoples experiences so thanks everyone!

Just an update for anyone who is interested. The doctor has given me a month of omeprazole thinking gastritis, and has ordered an ultrasound of my gallbladder too. She's also taken bloods today and I have to give a stool sample. Not sure how long it takes to get a scan now but I'm guessing it could be many months. But I'll update when I know more Smile

Good luck - I hope you get some answers soon.

SunflowerGardens · 01/07/2022 12:30

Thank you @mocktail - I was given my ultrasound scan today (was offered a cancellation) and I do have gallstones!
