Wrote a post but the page refreshed and I lost it. So under eye dept in hospital but think it’s clots / bleed on macular.

relised today it only happens in my right eye when waking after laying on my left side which I rarely do.

not diabetic but checked bloods 7.5 on waking last ate at 9pm last night. Bop was 168/99! But obviously very scared

it fades as I blink in the morning then I’m just left with a blur in central vision on blinking like after you look at a light for a while then look away. Got a hospital emergency appointment in two days. But consultant thinks it’s tiny blood clots.

why only when I sleep on my left? On no meds buts it’s badly managed. I’m right on the cusp of pre diabetes or have in the past

@IncessantNameChanger What's your usual blood pressure? That's very high!

IncessantNameChanger · 14/06/2022 15:58

Its normally 119/86 - 135/95 yes it's very high for someone on BP meds. Gp is happy with it around 90. That's another circular argument that I think it's too high, gp not concerned.

I have some propranolol so popped two of them after the reading

If you are in bright sunlight do you ever see black spidery looking things floating across your vision? If so you may have floaters which are usually innocuous but worth getting checked. They can increase and decrease in number and you go through patches of time where you notice them a lot and then when your brain gets used to them you just stop seeing them. I have lots in my right eye and am used to it now.

Does the blurred central vision go away or remain - my DD18 has just been diagnosed with Wet Macular Degeneration (very young for this its usually age related) and she has a permanent blurriness in the middle of one of her eyes which makes straight lines wavy. She has had treatment (injection to shrink blood vessels at back of eye) which was successful but unfortunately due to covid the treatment was delayed and she has the central blurriness for life. If its WMD it is treatment.

High BP could be glaucoma, I'm glad you're under the hospital, what are your eye pressures readings??

Yikes your poor dd. That is so young. I thought AMD the first time it happened about two years ago. I'm under the AMD / diabetes clinic but consultant is sure it's not AMD and just scarring that would go. Yes the blurrynes remains with wavy lines. I can really notice the blurrynes of a evening but during the day it's not noticable. Its like I have lost central vision in my right eye bit shutting the left eye wake sit back up. I know your brain fills in the gaps but as soon as I close my left eye I can read. Wait 2 seconds and can but its wavy / warped

Mum has glaucoma. My pressures are ok but my eye hurts inside like it's under pressure. I wanted to go in today right after the event to see what it is what caused it. I guess I'm building up more scar tissue. Its terrifying

High BP doesn’t equate to high IOP (potential glaucoma). But it’s a risk factor for lots of eye conditions.
I have no idea what’s the matter with you OP without further examination, but if you do have fluid under the macula in your right eye - if you lie on your left the fluid will shift (by gravity) which would change the refractive properties of that part of the retina and potentially wrinkle the retina giving you lines in your vision.

Eyes don’t like you being diabetic, overweight or smoking. So if you can lose weight or quit smoking that will help.

Glaucoma can be hereditary,. When were your eyes last tested. Mine deteriorated suddenly and rapidly. God bless my opticians who got me into the eye clinic as an emergency. I would phone yours tomorrow get an appointment ASAP

IncessantNameChanger · 15/06/2022 09:24

I have eye tests every year. I go to the eye hospital at least once every year too. I woke up wit it again today. Laying on my right side.

In that case you have a direct line to your eye clinic I suggest you use it

I have had the same black lines.

In March I had a tear in my retina. My symptoms were the black lines. I would describe them like spiders legs coming down in front of my vision.

When I went to the eye hospital they diagnosed the tear and said that the black lines were caused by blood moving around in the back of my eye.

When my retina tore it caused a bleed and the blood was pooling in the back of my eye. But when it moves about it slides down the front of my vision.

Scary stuff. It will take 6 months for the blood to be absorbed.

Went to mercy eye clinic today. The consultant thinks its fluid leaking from my blood vessels into the layers at the back of the eye. Got to go back in four weeks.

I went on my own with no one to give me a lift so I hung about for hours as they dilated my eyes. Feeling very sorry for myself today. I told the Dr my BP is high and I'm just under pre diabetic HBC levels.
