It’s a boob one

I’m 54 and 3/4 post menopausal and whilst on a bra trying on trip to M and S this evening I found a load of crusty stuff on one nipple. Don’t think I can feel a lump on saggy Bagpuss boob, but have had abnormalities there previously - all benign.

I’m assuming this is a go-see-gp one….?

Any thoughts, hive mates?

I think it always makes sense to get anything unusual checked out. If it's nothing, you'll be reassured. If it does prove to be suspicious you'll have the reassurance of knowing you got it checked out as soon as you could. I've recently finished treatment for a low grade early stage breast cancer, and though I didn't think the lump was cancerous I was very pleased that I was seen very quickly and that treatment was minimal.

Thanks @user1474315215 glad to hear everything was dealt with quickly. I will be honest, I’ve had fibroadenoma, cysts, abscesses and even microcalcifications so it was more ‘oh ffs, another load of worry for nothing’ than panic. We are going on holiday for the first time in 3 years in July and I really don’t want any distractions!

Hope all goes well for you going forwards

Yeah, that's a see-the-GP one. Sorry you've got the extra worry.

FelicityFidget · 13/06/2022 20:51

I get a crusty nipple. It's always been nothing. Comes and goes.

Did have cancer in the other breast but totally unrelated.

But any changes should ALWAYS be looked at, even if it's most probably nothing.

I’m always a laugh at a mammogram as I have a cardiac monitor fitted over my heart and it distorts the mammo image a bit.

is the 2w referral running at 2w at the moment?

Saw gp this morning, rapid referral breast clinic next Thursday. She can feel something behind the nipple. Great.

Sorry to hear that, I hope it’s nothing and you are ok during the wait. Thinking of you 💐

Bunnyfuller · 15/06/2022 14:20

Thanks @Perpop after so many benign bits in boobs over the years I am hoping to try to stay sane, but can feel little worried thoughts creeping in. I know all the 9/10 benign, and have been in the 9 on many occasions. Just want to get it done now. We’re going on the long awaited post-Covid holiday towards the end ofJuly, hopefully all put to bed by then 🙏🏻

Hi, I had a DCIS (ductal carcoma in situ) in my 30s. I had a bloody discharge from nipple. Discharge , even not bloody is common with those. Couldn’t feel any lumps.
i was seen by clinic within 2 weeks, diagnosed and then had the lump and the milk ducts in that breast removed. Nothing else needed
as long as it was caught early it is very easy to treat with this removal.
that was 20 plus years ago and no issues since
They did tell me there was a small risk that the nipple might detach after surgery . It didn’t, it became concave and has a smiley scar that runs half way around the nipples edges to remind me that I didn’t get ill. Obviously, if you’ve not finished family and breastfeeding it has an impact to remove the milk ducts.
so if it is that, don’t worry too much …it is very treatable.
good luck 💐

EmilyBolton · 15/06/2022 14:51

Sorry, just seen post menopause…so don’t “need” the milk ducts to feed any more!

Bunnyfuller · 15/06/2022 15:28

No..@EmilyBolton i need ‘money’ ducts now 😂😂😂 kids are 16 and 17
