Please help! DD missing GCSEs due to nausea - Stemetil not working - what else can we do?

Did post earlier but didn't put GCSEs in the title and the fact she is missing her exams is what makes this urgent. we are at wits end.
started Monday pm, quite suddenly.
nausea - tiredness - lightheaded - some stomach pain but doesn't seem severe
Period arrived Tuesday - it is irregular
GP prescribed Stemetil (2nd appointment of week) but not doing much and she's flat, feeling sick and exhausted this morning.
Missed a week of GCSEs.

we are trying to get liquid into her but even that is an effort and she is taking tiny sips. yesterday she had some ritz crackers, a few bites of ham sandwich (after Stemetil seemed to be working) and half an avocado all day. Nothing so far today.

My worry is that there is no sign of improvement and looking at previous threads there are a lot of examples of unexplained nausea in teens lasting weeks or even months.

what else can/should/shouldn't we do?

PS if you have an employee assistance programme at work, that might work for you (you need support too) or your child if they are over 16 (for ours). I didn’t have a good experience with ours but it’s worth a try, it should be free and confidential.

Just popping back quickly, in case it's of use to anyone else, to say that we saw a different GP yesterday who thinks DS has viral labyrinthitis and has given him cyclizine, and it's made an enormous difference already :)

To be honest, this sounds more extreme than anxiety, although I'm not a clinician, so I wouldn't even presume to diagnose.

Keep on at the GP, but this sounds like a bad stomach bug or even food poisoning. Keep pushing fluids like soup and flat coke. Keep trying bland foods, but don't worry about exams until she's well.

She'll have to resit, and school can tell you her options. Worse case, she might need to do GCSEs again next year at college, but that won't affect anything long term. My sister reset her Maths GCSE after getting a D. She went to college did the whole thing again with a different teacher and got a B. She got into uni needed up with a 1st in Psychology and is now a data analyst (statistician) in the NHS and on great money.

Hi, I posted on this thread before. Sorry to hear she still isn't doing great. Have you researched cyclic vomiting syndrome?
